* Lease line: companies try to get away of it. It is not a data network and
will become very expensive on the run.
* X.25: too old technology. It has a lot of overhead flow control packets
that are not necessary for digital transmission equipment. There are
no more major development on this technology.
* Frame Relay: It's hot now and it will become more mature soon. Implementing
the FR network now, you would put yourself in good position for the
next 20 years for bandwidth demanding.   
I do not know about Ascom and Net. I do test Newbridge 36170 series
(not FR card but ATM card). USA local Bells use their FR a lot.
- Banwidth range for users: DS0,DS1,DS3,OC3
- Banwidth range for trunks: DS1,DS3,OC3,OC12, and OC48 (end 1998)
- easy to migrate FR to ATM
