DEPUTY PM DZUNG SEEKS SINGAPORE'S ASSISTANCE IN TRAINING, FARM PRODUCE
PROCESSING AND BANKING

Ha Noi, Oct.  20 (VNA)-- Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Tan
Dzung on Oct.  19 told Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong that Viet Nam wishes
to further cooperate with Singapore in personnel training and farm, food
staff and sea product processing. 

Dzung was in Singapore to attend the 8th East Asia Economic Summit on
Oct.  18- 20 where he had reported Viet Nam's policies and measures,
including its continued efforts for renovation, to overcome the negative
impact of the regional economic crisis and fully tap international
cooperation for socio- economic sustainable development. 

During his meeting with Goh Chok Tong, Dzung also thanked Singaporean
government, people and the PM himself for effective support and
assistance to Viet Nam. 

The Singaporean Government leader, in turn, promised to further develop
cooperation with Viet Nam in various fields, especially in personnel
training, and encourage Singaporean investors to pay more attention to
areas that Viet Nam gives priority. 

Later, Dzung had a working session with his Singaporean counterpart Le
Hsien Loong, who is also Chairman of the Monetary Committee.  The two
sides put banking \management and financial regulation top of the
agenda. 

On the sideline of the Summit, Dzung also met with Vice President Gloria
Arroyo of the Phillipines and World Economic Forum President Klaus
Schwab.--VNA
