Quotes

[first lines]
Pemberton: Hell, that dog's bigger than that. I thought you said there were panthers here.
Galloway: I ain't seen a panther in these mountains for nine years.
Pemberton: What about the carcass we found up in Noland? Something mauled that.
Galloway: That weren't no panther. Chest weren't torn open. They eat the heart first.
Pemberton: You find me an honest-to-God panther to hunt, and I'll give you a $20 gold piece.
Galloway: If there's a panther still around here it's likely touched by the devil. They end up hunting you.
Pemberton: Well, I want one.

Urrrgh disgusting - needed a shower!
15 October 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

I was incredibly disappointed this was not much better. Perhaps I was misled by the inflated rating on this site. This was a jumbled up movie that never found its soul or It's a simple formula Hollywood movie, boy meets girl, they get on each other's nerves a bit and then it's time to fall in love. I can only imagine that the 8 star score here is from people who hold some sort of financial interest in the film. 'Serena' also has its weak spot: it is presented as a Jemmifer Lawrence vehicle. That is far from any truth, for her part is secondary and non-substantial here. Playing a faithful wife doesn't suit her either, for she is just too sleazy for that. This movie clearly indicates how Ms. Lawrence s' stern refusal to go naked forced her into such an obscure role. The movie was obviously produced on-the-cheap (use of unknowns and the location being just a few rural, outdoor areas and one tavern), which is OK, but it has the look and feel of a mediocre documentary or of above-average student film.

What makes a film memorable involves interesting dialog, interesting characters and development, intriguing plot, good supporting roles, multiple memorable scenes and proper pacing. This movies lacks all of these elements.

So now you can't say that you weren't warned! If you haven't seen it yet - count yourself lucky and skip this one.
