Storyline

Donna Jensen was raised literally and figuratively on the wrong side of the trailer park in Silver Springs, Nevada. She always believed it was her destiny to get out of Silver Springs. After reading Sally Weston's book, Sally who is arguably the most famous now ex-flight attendant in the world, Donna believes the path to leaving Silver Springs is to become a flight attendant despite never having been on an airplane. After an initial bumpy start to this career, Donna shows a natural flair for the job, so much so that she applies to work for world class Royal Airlines, where Sally Weston mentors. After meeting Donna, Sally believes Donna is destined for flight attendant greatness, namely working first class in the New York-Paris flights. Donna believes in herself as a flight attendant, but has to overcome some obstacles, including flight attendant trainer John Witney, who has some hidden anger issues, and her friend Christine Montgomery who also wants to be a great flight attendant ... Trivia

This film wrapped filming in 2001, and was originally scheduled for a Christmas 2001 release, then after initial tests, an April 2002 release. However, after the terrorist attacks on the USA of 11 September 2001, the studio felt it was not appropriate to release a comedy which made light of airline flight crews. After another year in the can, and another round of edits which cut out cameo appearances by Robert Stack and Regis Philbin, the film was finally released in summer 2003. It promptly flopped and disappeared. See more »

Quotes

Donna Jensen: I just worry if I really fall in love with Ted, what's going to happen to everything I've worked so hard for?
Randy: OK, fine, don't fall in love with him.
Donna Jensen: That's kinda where I'm having the problem.
Randy: It just takes willpower, is all. I mean, you didn't fall in love with me, did you?
Donna Jensen: You're gay.
Randy: But, it still took willpower, didn't it?

User Reviews

could have been one of the funniest, interesting movies of the year
1 December 2003 | by (Los Angeles, California) – See all my reviews

i liked the premise - small-town girl makes it big as an airline stewardess. the costuming and set design suggested this could be a hip, trend-setting movie. i love seeing women and men who seem different and invite curiosity, i like watching Gwyneth Paltrow acting out the sincerity in her character. but it sure seemed this script wasn't rewritten enough times - even redirected. most of the other characters were introduced as a little quirky or sexy, but after that they became uninteresting, the tension or romance between them didn't seem real. why introduce characters that never recur or mean anything in the end? why go to Paris or New York, and see it from the inside of a room? it's as if the budget was being cut as each page of the script was discovered to be unworkable material! by the end of the film, i felt sorry for most of stars who appeared in this. i think it could have been one of the funniest, interesting movies of the year - i would love to remake it as a real insight into the world of the airline stewardess.
