Storyline

The Soviets have developed a revolutionary new jet fighter, called "Firefox". Naturally, the British are worried that the jet will be used as a first-strike weapon, as rumours say that the jet is indetectable on radar. They send ex-Vietnam War pilot Mitchell Gant on a covert mission into the Soviet Union to steal Firefox. Written by Murray Chapman <muzzle@cs.uq.oz.au>

Goofs

When Gant is walking towards his hotel (Moscow) we can see Red Square with St. Basil's cathedral at the background which is obviously a picture, not a real thing, and of poor quality besides. Moreover, there's no hotel by Red Square in the direction he was walking. Hotel Moscow is situated at the opposite side, about 2km distance from the point of "shooting". See more »

Quotes

General Vladimirov: [on targeting the MiG-31] The infrared guidance system is not the most accurate. It may be necessary for a Soviet aircraft to act as a target. Will you give that order?
First Secretary: [after a moment's thought] Of course.

Re-Make With Faster Start Would Be Nice
13 May 2006 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This was so-so, one of those films that could have been much better had the editing been tighter, in this case in the first 90 minutes. About 20 of that could have been cut. As it was, it took too long for the action to kick in, and was a bit confusing in parts.

Once Clint Eastwood started getting near the plane he was going to hijack the film picked up immensely.

Even though the movie was made 25 years ago, the fighter plane still looks pretty awesome: a combination of a Stealth and Concorde. Too bad this wasn't made today with some great DTS sound. Perhaps a re-make of this would be the answer.
