Checkerboard Mesa. This is at a higher elevation that the previous photo. It's in a different rock layer, which is why it's white rather than red (although both layers are sandstone). The horizontal striations are supposed to be fairly unusual, at least in Zion. You can just see a little snow through the branches of the tree in the foreground.
