Profile:

Douglas Carr had an unusual career in first class cricket. One of the first bowlers to master the googly, he came into the Kent team at the age of 37. He met with immediate success against batsman mystified by the new technique, and played firstly for the Gentlemen against the Players at LordŐs, and then to face the Australians in the final Test of 1909. He took 7 wickets in this, his only test, but was expensive (Dave Liverman, 1998).
