Profile:

The name of Khaled Masud is familiar to the Bangladeshi crowd since 1993-94. Khaled also played vital role in Bangladesh's emphatic win over Kenya in the ICC trophy, 1997. In that tournament his blazing cameo innings contributed a lot in winning the trophy; thus he got the chance to set off for England, World Cup, 1999. At present Bangladesh has no option to give another wicketkeeper a break because none can stand in comparison with him either in skill or courage. The viewers are accustomed to hear the support Khaled Masud tends to give his mates to boost them up. As a right-handed batsman Masud is fairly dependable like behind the stumps. Masud played 33 ODI, having a half-century as a batsman and 31 dismissals as a wicket keeper, Khaled Masud has no match of his safe pair of hands; that is why the selectors still barely give a second though to include him in the squad. In the second innings of the Test against India, Khaled made 21 when specialist batsmen of the side were seen hobbling against Indian attack. He headed for Zimbabwe with his squad acting as the deputy to Naimur Rahman. In the first Test Khaled received a nasty ankle damage and had to get back home. This was a big blow for Bangladesh because the side as well missed his batting in the second innings. A born fighter Masud is recuperating from that injury and determined to play the Asian Test Championship in August 2001.
