Profile:

"Stork" Ford was a stylish bat, and a useful slow left arm bowler. He followed six older brothers into the Repton XI, then to Cambridge and Middlesex. Described by HS Altham as "the Woolley of his generation" (and there can be no higher praise), his batting was elegant and powerful, marked by a full swing of the bat, and superb timing. His best year was 1897, but his Tests were restricted to the 1894-95 tour of Australia. He was tall and thin, and used his height to effect in his bowling, where he developed a looping flight (Dave Liverman, 1998).
