Profile:Transvaal right-handed batsman, has developed into a superb attacking opening batsman, especially in limited overs matches. He started this season's Standard Bank limited overs programme with 2 fine centuries and more than 400 runs in 7 innings. This included a top score of 140 against North West at Fochville. Bacher's impressive record this season makes him a strong contender for inclusion in the South African squad this summer. Bacher toured Sri Lanka with the South African U/24 side in 1995. Last season he was selected for the South African 'A' team to play Zimbabwe and in the same season he played against the visiting England team, scoring 116 runs in the 4 day match in Kimberley. Surprisingly, he was overlooked for inclusion in the South African "A" side that toured England earlier this year. He is the nephew of South African cricket supremo Dr Ali Bacher.
