Profile:
An excellent no 5 or 6 . A short man; nimble footed, left
handed, attacking batsman. Best against spin but effective hooker and cutter of
fast bowling. Best performances in crisis situations, finest outfield of his
day, unlucky not to play in more tests. Exceptional test average, but really
did not play enough games to be rated at the same levels as the greatest
batsman.
