Pictures of Nathan Bracken
Profile:Born and raised in the Blue Mountains, Nathan Bracken was the target of a lucrative pre-season offer from Tasmania in 1998-99 but elected to stay in his native New South Wales. He duly made his interstate debut during that summer and has followed it with impressive form in the years since, albeit around a series of frustrating injuries. Bracken is a tall, rakishly built left arm paceman who hits the crease hard and, aided by movement both ways, bowls a steady line and generally full length. Despite his relative youth and inexperience, he has also shown himself to be an excellent player in pressure situations, a quality underlined by the naggingly accurate spell that saw him concede just twenty-eight runs from his ten allotted overs in the 1998-99 Mercantile Mutual Cup Final against Victoria. Through his formative years in the sport, he was a member of New South Wales under 17 and under 19 sides and the Australian under 19 team. He was also an inductee of the Australian Cricket Academy in 1997. (John Polack, January 2001)© 2001 CricInfo Ltd |
