Profile:

[1998-99 season] Mark Priest was called into the CLEAR Black Caps in February 1998 for the final One-Day International against Australia, following injury to Daniel Vettori. On the back of that performance he was also selected for the final of the two Bank of New Zealand Tests against Zimbabwe. He performed with credit taking 2/31 off his 10 overs and 0/55 in the Test. The call-up came a full seven summers after Priest last represented New Zealand in a Test against England in 1990. He also played 12 One-Day Internationals between 1990-1995. At 37 years of age Priest is New Zealand's oldest first-class player and his wealth of experience stood him in good stead for the sudden return to international exposure. He is the second highest wicket taker in New Zealand's domestic one day competition, the Shell Cup, and last season snared his 300th first-class wicket.
