Articles about Daniel HarrisPictures of Daniel HarrisProfile:A lightly framed right handed batsman, Daniel Harris gained his opening taste of first-class cricket when he was chosen as then-international representative Greg Blewett's replacement for South Australia for three matches early in the 1999-2000 season. Though he didn't exceed a score of 31 in those appearances, he aligned enthusiasm with a tight technique, a good eye and a liking for hitting the ball through point and the covers in particular. He also showcased his brilliance in the field in his debut match when he completed an extraordinary overhead catch, leaping in soccer goalkeeper fashion at cover, to dismiss Pakistan batsman Wajahatullah Wasti. The strength in depth in upper order batting in his home state has subsequently mitigated against him but he continues to score runs with great fluency for club side Woodville. A former Australian under-19 representative, he is studying for a university degree in medicine. (John Polack, August 2001)© CricInfo Ltd 2001 |
