Profile:
Blonde and strongly built, Paul Allott was one of the leading swing
bowlers in county cricket during the 1980s. In English conditions he
could be very effective, though perhaps he lacked that little bit of
extra pace required to trouble top-class batsmen. A good late order
slogger, back injuries meant that towards the end of his career his
appearances were largely limited to the domestic one-day game. He was
one of many county players of his generation to have attended Durham
University.
