Profile:Colin Smart is a bowling all rounder who reappears with the Canberra Comets after a years absence from the senior representative career. He made his debut for the Australian Capital Territory in 1997/98 at the Australian Country Championships where he made a century on debut. This was only the second time that this has happened for the Australian Capital Territory. Smart is a handy batsman who can bat anywhere in the middle order and has the ability to score quickly. As a right arm medium fast bowler he has the ability to bowl for extended periods while keeping the runs at a minimum. He plays for the ANU side in the ACTCA grade competition where he opens the bowling. In the 1998/99 season he was the leading wicket taker in the competition and his best bowling was 8 for 18 which was the second best on record for the ANU side. Smart originally comes from Batemans Bay on the New South Wales south coast which is two hours drive from Canberra. (Adam Morehouse, November 1999) |
