Profile:
Charles Coventry, having gained his cricketing experience with
Worcestershire, a minor county at the time, made his first-class
debut in the first England South Africa test in 1888-89, batting
at 10 and not bowling in either of his two tests. He was "a fair
bat with a free style who can hit hard" (Dave Liverman, 1998).
