Profile:Andy Whittall has the unusual distinction of representing his country overseas before playing first-class cricket at home. He attended Cambridge University and immediately found a place in the University team, with John Crawley as his first captain, and later captained the side himself. Mostly an off-spinner, and with so many other prominent all-rounders in the Zimababwe team, he has batted mostly low in the order, but his batting ability should be encouraged (his first-class best is 91* for Cambridge University). He has shown in the past that his batting thrives on pressure situations. His bowling is steady, and he has improved his accuracy, but as yet does not often trouble the best batsmen (John Ward and DL, April 1999),
