Profile:
Despite doing well on his Test debut against New Zealand in his home
town in 1969-70, it remained the extent of Ajit Pai's international
career. This was a pity for he was an accurate right arm medium pace
bowler who brought the ball down from his tall frame. He was rewarded
with a Test cap after doing well in domestic games. In this match he
took the wickets of opening batsman Murray and the experienced Burgess
in the middle order. He had figures of two for 29 from 17 overs but
bowled only two overs in the second innings. It was rather surprising
that he was dropped and even more surprising that he was never
considered again. (Partab Ramchand)
