Profile:
Playing his only Tests on tours of India and Pakistan, where
conditions were less than helpful for a bowler of his style, Bob
CottamÕs steady fast-medium bowling took over 1000 first class
wickets for Hampshire and Northamptonshire in English domestic
cricket. Intially he relied more on his height and speed for his
wickets, but became more effective when he reduced his pace and
developed an accurate cutter. Not a strong batsman, his 9-25 for
Hampshire v Lancashire in 1965 is still the best bowling for
that county (Dave Liverman, 1998).
