Articles about Brett Schultz

Profile:

"The Bear!" Injury permitting, the aggressive left-handed paceman, playing for Western Province since the 1996/7 season, could cement his place in the national side. Shultz, like the majority of genuinely fast bowlers, suffers equally from injuries, the resultant lack of fitness, and lack of accuracy. When he does get his line and length right, however, batsmen often get "done for pace". On his debut tour to the slow pitches of Sri Lanka, Schultz showed that his pace is through the air and not so much off the pitch. This, together with the angle of delivery, present major problems for both right- and left-handed batsmen. Schultz, having regained some of the form and aggression which earned him 20 wickets in the 3-Test series to Sri Lanka, made a late charge at the end of the 1996/7 season and was rewarded with selection to the national side.
