Profile:

Chosen for the New South team after the  Second World War, Moroney was selected for the Australian team for the  tour of South Africa in 1949/50.  Run out for a duck on his Test debut,  Moroney scored a century in each innings (118 and 101*) of the Fourth  Test of that tour at Ellis Park, Johannesburg.  After bagging a pair in  the opening Test of the 1950/51 Ashes series he only played one further  Test, his seven appearances for Australia producing 383 runs at 34.82.   In 57 first-class matches he had a batting average of 52.24.  He  continued to play first grade cricket in Newcastle until he was in his  fifties.
