Profile:Nic Pothas A versatile wicket-keeper/batsman, who has progressed more as a batsman, yet remains a useful, but unspectacular wicket-keeper for Transvaal. He opened the batting at times for Transvaal in the Castle Cup in the absence of a genuine opening batsman, but is definitely better suited to the middle order where he can play his shots freely and without pressure. He was particularly suc- cessful with the bat in the night series matches and his forceful batting was the driving force behind Transvaal`s surge into the Final. Possibly, selected for South Africa A on his batting mer- its, rather than his ability to keep wicket, however, he has yet to make a negative impression.
