Profile:
Akram Khan is one of the most experienced batsmen on the Bangladesh Team. This burly right-hander from Chittagong captained Bangladesh in 15 one-day internationals, and led Bangladesh in their 1997 ICC Trophy win. Akram Khan is also the leading run scorer for Bangladesh in one-day internationals. As a powerful hitter of the ball he possesses very good timing and sound technique.
He played a memorable knock against India during Asia Cup 2000 when he and Naimur Rahman scored nearly 100 runs in the last ten overs to propel Bangladesh to it's highest score (249/6) against India. In domestic competitions, Akram Khan captains Abahani Limited, the current holders of the Premier League one-day championship.
Having played 39 one-day matches he is the owner the most number of half centuries (5) for his country. In Zimbabwe, Akram could not play up to his mark. In the first ODI he put some resistance against the hosts (35) when Bangladesh was struggling to reach a moderate total after a horrible start. Akram came up with real spirit in the first innings of the second Test when he made 44 - an innings that can be a lesson for the youths.
He went to U.S.A to play a double wicket tournament with long-time friend Aminul Islam and returned with the runner-up trophy.
