Profile:
A cricketer with a durable first class record, Shah Nyalchand was a
left arm medium pace bowler who could keep pegging away for hours on a
good length. Batsman in the Ranji Trophy always found it difficult to
get him away, such was his accuracy. In a first class career that
stretched for 25 years, Nyalchand took 235 wickets (22.57). In the
Ranji Trophy alone he took 207 wickets (22.92).
Nyalchand played his only Test at the age of 33. The Pakistan batsmen
took a long time to get their runs and chiefly responsible for this
was Nyalchand who had figures of 64-33-97-3. He took the wickets of
Maqsood Ahmed, Anwar Hussain and AH Kardar. (Partab
