Profile:

[1999-2000 Season] Initially left out of the team for last summer's Bank of New Zealand Series, Bryan Young was called into the side when Matthew Bell was struck down by illness, and Craig McMillan was injured. He played the four ODIs against India and one against South Africa (ave. 37.66) and the final two Tests against South Africa (ave 26.66). Young was not included in the World Cup squad and then declared himself unavailable due to business reasons for the England Test Series. The undoubted highlight of Young's career to date was the record-breaking 267 not out he scored against Sri Lanka in early 1997. The only higher score by a New Zealander in Test cricket is Martin Crowe's 299.
