Profile:

Few bowlers in history have struck with as much consistency for Queensland as Andy Bichel. Something of a late developer, he has proved a wonderfully effective right arm paceman for the Bulls over recent years with his combination of superb line and length and the ability to produce tight, accurate spells over sustained periods. Bichel's stock ball is an outswinger that moves appreciably away from right handed batsmen but he bowls with brilliant variation, altering his pace and length surreptitiously.

Bichel has not been afforded many chances at international level, but among the highlights of his career at that level are a five wicket haul against West Indies in Melbourne in 2000-01 and involvement in Australia's crushing Frank Worrell Trophy-clinching win over the same opponent in the Fourth Test of the teams' 1996-97 series. Other defining moments in his career have included his participation in two limited-overs title winning teams with Queensland and his central role in three first-class title victories, not the least of these coming in 1999-2000 as his return of 6/47 powered the Bulls to triumph against Victoria. His batting - which is determined, spirited, and far superior in quality to that of most pace bowlers - has also brought with it some proud achievements, most notably a first-class century against Victoria in 1997-98 and another three-figured score for Worcestershire in a one-day match against Glamorgan in 2001.
