Profile:
Playing only two tests, during the MCC tour of India and
Pakistan in 1951-52, Donald Carr is better known for his
subsequent exploits in cricket administration. He managed three
overseas tours, and was assistant secretary of the MCC, and
secretary of the Cricket Council and TCCB. As a player he was a
strong on-side player, a brilliant hooker, and a superb close
fieldsman. He bowled slow left-arm on occasion, sometimes with
effect. He captained Oxford, Derby, and an MCC A team to
Pakistan (Dave Liverman, 1998).
