Samit Patel is a young all-rounder of great promise with the Nottinghamshire
CCC Academy. A hard-hitting right hand middle order batsman and capable slow
left arm bowler, he has represented England at Under-15, Under-17 and
Under-19 levels. He was awarded the Test Match Special Young Cricketer of
the Year award in 2000 for his impressive performances in the Costcutter
Under-15 World Cup. He toured Australia with England Under-17s in early 2001
and was a member of the England squad for the 2002 Under-19 World Cup in New
Zealand. He made his debut for Nottinghamshire 2nd XI at the age of just 14,
in late 1999. He is a student a Worksop College in North Nottinghamshire,
and plays club cricket for Langley Mill in the Derbyshire Premier League.
