A competent wicketkeeper, Irani went on the tour of Australia in
1947-48 and played in the first two Tests. He then lost his place to P
Sen and did not represent the country again. He played for Sind in the
Ranji Trophy and during a first class career that lasted from 1937 to
1948, he scored 399 runs (17.34) and made 27 dismissals, 21 of them
