Profile:
He has all kids of talents to prove himself inevitable in the Bangladesh squad. As a new ball operator, he played several ODI from those he picked up the wicket of Sachin Tedulkar for a couple of times.
He replaced Khaled Mahmood, who was with the national side for almost five years. Both were competitors for the position of number seven. Like Mahmood, Mushfique can bowl persistently at the same line and length.
He got the opportunity to play against Zimbabwe, which was a result of his outstanding success in the domestic league. He also exhibited stupendous performance against the renowned Common Wealth Bank Academy of Cricket (CBCA) that toured Dhaka in January 2001.
Against CBCA he looked brilliant with the bat and scored a century and some good knocks that proved his ability to cope up with the longer version matches. Earlier he was considered only as a one-day all rounder.
But Mushfique could not do well in Zimbabwe except the first ODI when he made 31. In the Tests he was seen shaky and unsteady. Instead of hanging on to the wicket he made the wrong selection of ball to whack and eventually got out at the same manner.
Yet, he is the genuine all rounder presently Bangladesh side have. He is in the sixteen-member side that are taking preparation at BKSP to set off for Asian Test Championship.
