Profile:
Still just a youngster, at 22, Lanka de Silva comes into the Sri
Lankan side with heavy expectations on his narrow shoulders.
Coming into the Sri Lankan side in place of Romesh Kaluwitharana
has certainly presented itself as a remarkable challenge but so
far, Lanka has proven that he is up to the challenge. Although
an excellent wicketkeeper, needed certainly for the heavy spin
of his teamates, Lanka has shown nifty touch with the bat,
taking on the strong South African attack in the recent
Quadrangular Series with success. (Treshad Sosa, November
1997)
