Profile:
He was born in Colombo, on the 15th of July 1976. He made his debut in domestic cricket against the Tamil Union in 1995. He studied at Ananda College. He played cricket from the U13 level up to the U19s. He excelled with his left arm spinners and was also a useful batsman. He performed extremely well for the Colombo Colts team in the domestic competition for the last two years, but the selectors favoured Rangana Herath and Niroshan Bandaratilleke. Dinuka was given a chance against England 'A' when they were on tour in Sri Lanka in 1997, followed by the South Africans, in 1998. He was selected to tour Abu Dhabi in the Tri Series in 1999 against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, a series, which was not recognized by the ICC. In May 2000, he played against the Zimbabwe 'A' in Sri Lanka. A good performance meant that he was called into the Sri Lankan squad for the test series against South Africa and Pakistan. Unfortunately he did not get an opportunity to represent the National side.
