Profile:
Amit Bhandari was first picked to play for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy
in 1996. Even in the next season, he was picked for only a
few games and did not do anything of note. However, Bhandari
bounced back strongly in the 1998-99 season. After a successful
Ranji season, Bhandari was chosen to tour South Africa with the
Indian Under-19 team. Most recently Bhandari was picked to play
in the Challenger series and picked up seven wickets from the three
games he played. His returns of 4/52 on a good batting track in
the final against India seniors caught the attention of many.
Although not of express pace, Bhandari has demonstrated abundant
ability to move the ball in the air. In the recent past, Bhandari
has also worked on his batting. He toured with the
Indian team for the Sahara Cup in Toronto in 1999 but did not
get to play a game. The Asia Cup in Dhaka might be the
platform on which Bhandari can launch his career.(Anand Vasu)
