Profile:

An attractive right handed opening bat, Fane played for Essex for over twenty years, captaining them in 1905 and 1906. He was one of the few England bats to master the googly bowling of the South African quartet in 1905-6, topping the batting averages on the tour (Dave Liverman, 1998).
