Profile:
An attractive opening bat for Surrey on either side of World War
2, Fishlock's adventurous style was perhaps not ideally suited to
Test cricket, but his batting was much enjoyed by the Oval
faithful. He was a quick footed left hander, especially strong
against spin, and was very consistent in county cricket, scoring
first-class 56 hundreds. He was unfortunate, perhaps, in that
what might have been his best years were lost to war (Dave Liverman, 1998).
