Profile:[2000-01 Season] Andrew Penn has been on the edge of international selection for the past three seasons and has done everything required to press his claim. He was the leading wicket taker in first class cricket two summers ago with 40 wickets at 19.07 including two five-wicket bags. Playing English league cricket last winter, he was called into the New Zealand squad when Simon Doull returned home injured. In a tour match against Leicester he took six wickets, keeping the Test bowlers honest. He was included in the India tour party and called into the CLEAR Black Caps for the final ODI against the West Indies but did not take a wicket. He continues to parry with Shayne O'Connor, Chris Drum and now Daryl Tuffey, for a more permanent place in the line-up. |
