Articles about Dilip Sardesai
Profile:
After being in and out of the Indian side for several years,
Sardesai had a tremendous series in the West Indies in 1971.
Though overshadowed by debutant Gavaskar, "Sardee man" provided
solid performances in the middle order that were critical in
India's first (and only, thus far) series win in the West Indies.
A stocky man of medium height, he was, in his day, the best
Indian player of spin bowling. Though he batted mostly in the
middle order, one of his two Test double centuries came as an
opener (Uday Rajan, 1998).
