In 1997-98 he was a member of the Australian Youth team for the Youth World Cup played in South Africa. In December 1996 he was a member of the Toowoomba Grammar School team for the Gillette Cup final played in Adelaide. He commenced playing grade cricket in Brisbane with University in 1996-97.
