Profile:

[2000/01 Season] Hamish Marshall made his Test debut in the final match of the winter tour against South Africa. It was a match severely disrupted by rain with play taking place on days two and five only. Batting at No 7 the 21-year-old made an unbeaten 40. He showed great maturity in his innings and looked comfortable in spite of his partners falling frequently as New Zealand crashed to be all out for 200. Marshall had initially impressed the selection panel with his performance during a BIL Academy tour to India during the winter when he scored two centuries. He had been the Young Player to Lord's in 1998 and a member of the New Zealand Cricket Academy in 1999. Marshall is in his third season of first-class cricket for the State Northern Knights.
