Profile:[2000/01 Season] Richardson was the highest run-scorer in first-class cricket last season, making 1280 runs in 15 matches at an average of 53.33. Richardson captained New Zealand 'A' on its tour to England last summer. Promoted to open the batting for Otago in the final Shell Trophy match, he continued in that role for New Zealand 'A' throughout the tour. His efforts, including 212 not out against Sussex, earned him selection in the CLEAR Black Caps for the winter tour to Zimbabwe and South Africa. His debut had come at 29 years of age having played ten seasons of first-class cricket. When Richardson began his first-class career he was a left arm spin bowler who batted at No 10. |
