Run out for a duck on his Test debut, Moroney scored a century in each innings (118 and 101*) of the Fourth Test of that tour at Ellis Park, Johannesburg. After bagging a pair in the opening Test of the 1950/51 Ashes series he only played one further Test, his seven appearances for Australia producing 383 runs at 34.82.
