Profile:[2000/01 Season] Left arm pace bowler James Franklin received his international call-up for the Boxing Day Test against Zimbabwe this summer but was destined to carry the drinks. He had entered the selection frame after injury ruled Chris Cairns out of the side. The selection was reward for a good start to the domestic season, when he captured ten wickets at 18.90 in six Shell Cup matches. He had also performed with merit for the BIL Academy side which toured India during the off-season. Franklin was retained for the one-day series against Zimbabwe and played all three matches, averaging 26.00 with the bat and taking five wickets at 25.20. It was a solid start to his international career for the just-turned 20-year-old who has played only two seasons of first-class cricket. |
