Profile:

Graham 'Choco' Manou is an immensely promising young wicketkeeper-batsman currently making his way at domestic level in Australia. A player with a glittering junior record behind him, he made his first appearance in interstate ranks at senior level at the start of the 1999-2000 season when he replaced the recently-retired Tim Nielsen to become South Australia's first-choice wicketkeeper. From there, he has created a favourable impression for himself with his tidy and athletic glovework and his obvious comfort in keeping to all types of bowling. Manou struggled initially with the bat (registering ducks in four of his opening five innings on the first-class stage), but has significant potential as a strokemaker and plays a range of especially commanding shots off the back foot. His career at underage level reached its highest point when he won Player of the Tournament honours as his state's captain at the 1997-98 national under-19 carnival in Melbourne but he played with distinction throughout his teenage years, leaving South Australian administrators in no doubt as to his talents. He is currently juggling his burgeoning career in the sport with the pursuit of an environmental science degree. (John Polack, August 2001)
