The company makes 3.5-in. hard disk drives used in PCs made by manufacturers such as Dell (14% of sales), Compaq, and Fujitsu. Other customers include distributors and computer and electronics retailers. Maxtor has moved into the network attached storage business with a line of server appliances. Its acquisition of Quantum's Hard Disk Drive Group -- a deal designed to help it leapfrog rival Seagate -- boosted the company's line of PC hard drives and added server drives to its offerings. The company has plants in Singapore and the US.
