PROFILE |
 |
If you feel a teenager coming around the block, you might thank (or blame) Rockford. The company makes high-end car audio systems, targeting males ages 16 to 24 who like to crank it up. Rockford's car products include amplifiers (#1 in US), speakers, sub woofers, and accessories under the Rockford Fosgate name. Professional products for theaters, studios, and concert venues are sold under the Hafler brand; home electronics use the Fosgate Audionics name. Rockford sells worldwide through catalogs, the Internet, distributors, and retailers (Best Buy accounts for about 17% of sales). Jim Fosgate started Rockford in 1973. The Bartol family, including directors Timothy and Nicholas, owns about 46% of the company.
