PROFILE Parker Drilling parks its oil rigs off the beaten path. Its helicopter-transportable rigs allow the drilling contractor to work in remote jungle, mountain, and desert locations in foreign locations, but in recent years it has been targeting offshore markets. Hit hard by the 1990s oil crunch, it has sold assets and has exited the land drilling business in the US. However, increased exploration activity is set to lift Parker's revenues in 2001. Parker Drilling, which owns 85 rigs, drills worldwide and has worked in more than 50 countries. Subsidiary Quail Tools provides rental tools for oil and gas drilling and workover activities.
