 PROFILE
UTI Energy, which has agreed to be acquired by rival Patterson Energy, offers land drilling and pressure pumping services. The company supplies onshore contract drilling services to oil and gas companies, offering footage, turnkey (fixed price), and dayrate contracts. UTI's fleet of 150 rigs operates primarily in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Western Canada. UTI markets drilling services under the names Phelps Drilling, Southland, and Triad. Subsidiary Universal Well Services provides pressure pumping services in the Appalachian Basin. UTI has expanded into Canada with the acquisition of Phelps Drilling. Chairman Mark Siegel owns 15% of UTI.
