The company leases its fleet of 654,000 standard dry freight containers through subsidiary Interpool Limited, which specializes in long-term leasing. The containers can be stacked up to nine high to conserve space. Another subsidiary, Trac Lease, leases Interpool's fleet of 175,000 chassis (wheeled frames that hold containers) to shipping lines, railroads, and trucking firms, and it operates pools in the US that allow shippers to share and trade available chassis.
