The firm makes and distributes baked goods to food outlets and retail grocers in more than 30 states. It is the US's #2 commercial baker (after Interstate Bakeries), with more than 60 bakeries. Earthgrain's fresh baked goods, toaster pastries, and refrigerated and frozen dough products are sold under brands such as Rainbo, Earth Grains, and Merico. Earthgrains also supplies fresh breads to fast-food chains, produces private-label dough products, and operates about 500 retail thrift stores. It's expanding in Europe, where subsidiaries Bimbo (fresh-baked goods, Spain) and EuroDough (refrigerated dough) are market leaders.
