PROFILE Global ePoint is hoping to scratch off a winner in the Internet lottery market. In 2001 the company (formerly On-Point Technology Systems) sold its previous business, making vending machines for the sale of pull-tab lottery and instant-winner tickets, to develop new Internet-based lottery services. Global ePoint retained its vending machines that distribute prepaid telephone calling cards, a business it plans to grow. The company also wants to expand into "smart cards" (debit-type cards that don't require phone links to authorize purchases).
