Tobishima Corporation
 PROFILE
Tobishima is behind a lot of what's big in Japan. Most of the company's revenues come from construction and civil engineering, especially large projects such as hydroelectric plants and railroads. Tobishima designs, builds, and manages its projects, which include housing, real estate, and athletic facilities. It also leases and sells construction equipment. Tobishima has offices in Asia, Europe, Australia, and North America. The firm is restructuring its management and continuing to reduce assets, especially those of its real estate businesses, to overcome economic woes. Founded in 1883 as Tobishima-Gumi, the company was dissolved after WWII, but re-established in 1947, becoming Tobishima in 1965.
