PROFILE |
 |
Bricorama (named for the French phrase for "puttering") sells bric-o-brac, home furnishings, and hardware for do-it-yourself types. Most of its 110 or so stores are in France, with the rest scattered across the Benelux countries, especially Belgium (over 20). Although Bricorama gets its name from its home improvement products, home decorating products are the largest sales category -- 25%. The company also sells electrical, gardening, and building products. As part of an ongoing expansion plan, Bricorama, France's third-largest retail chain, has acquired the rival Bricostore chain from fellow French company Bresson. The founding Bourrelier family (including CEO Jean-Claude Bourrelier) owns about 87% of the company.
