Business Summary
Stewart & Stevenson Services, Inc. is primarily engaged in the custom fabrication of engine driven products. Stewart & Stevenson consists of four major business segments: the Power Products segment, the Tactical Vehicle Systems segment, the Petroleum Equipment segment, and the Airline Products segment. The Power Products segment sells and rents various industrial equipment. The Tactical Vehicle Systems segment assembles, and provides sustaining design engineering and service and support for the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles under contracts with the U.S. Army. The Petroleum Equipment segment manufactures equipment for the oil and gas exploration, production, and well stimulation industries. The Airline Products segment manufactures internal combustion and electric airline ground support equipment.

Financial Summary
SSSS markets industrial equipment and related parts; manufactures the U.S. Army's medium tactical vehicles; and manufactures equipment for oil and gas exploration, production and well stimulation industries. For the three months ended 4/28/01, revenues rose 31% to $341.5 million. Net income from continuing operations totalled $21 million, up from $7.5 million. Revenues reflect increased Tactical Vehicle Systems sales. Earnings also reflect the inclusion of $20.8 million in recovered costs.
