Business Summary
BP p.l.c. is an oil company whose main businesses are Exploration and Production, Gas and Power, Refining and Marketing, and Chemicals. Exploration and Production's activities include oil and natural gas exploration and field development and production (upstream activities), together with pipeline transportation and natural gas processing (midstream activities). Gas and Power's activities include marketing and trading of natural gas, liquefied natural gas, natural gas liquids, and power, the development of international opportunities that monetize gas resources and involvement in select power projects. The activities of Refining and Marketing include oil supply and trading as well as refining and marketing (downstream activities). Chemicals' activities include petrochemicals manufacturing and marketing. In addition, the Company has a solar energy business, which is one of the world's largest manufacturers of photovoltaic modules and systems.

Financial Summary
BP p.l.c. produces and markets crude oil and petroleum products worldwide, is engaged in exploration and field development throughout the world, and is engaged in the manufacture and sale of petroleum-based chemical products. For the six months ended 6/01, revenues rose 54% to $93.82 billion. Net income according to U.S. GAAP before acctg. change rose 6% to $5.53 billion. Results reflect higher gas prices and sales, partially offset by a $198 million inventory holding loss.
