Business Summary
Sunoco, Inc. is principally a petroleum refiner and marketer and chemicals manufacturer with interests in cokemaking. The Company's operations are organized into seven business units comprised of Sun Northeast Refining, Sunoco Northeast Marketing, Sunoco Chemicals, Sun Lubricants, Sunoco MidAmerica Marketing & Refining, Sunoco Logistics and Sun Coke, as well as a holding company and a shared services organization. Sunoco's petroleum refining and marketing operations include the manufacturing and marketing of a full range of petroleum products, including fuels, lubricants and petrochemical feedstocks, and the transportation of crude oil and refined products. Sunoco's chemical operations comprise the manufacturing, distribution and marketing of base commodity and intermediate petrochemicals. The petroleum refining and marketing and chemicals operations are conducted principally in the eastern half of the United States. Sunoco's cokemaking operations are conducted in Virginia and Indiana.

Financial Summary
SUN, through its subsidiaries, is a petroleum refiner and marketer with interests in cokemaking and coal mining. Sunoco's petroleum refining and marketing operations are conducted in the eastern half of the U.S. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 8% to $7.35 billion. Net income from continuing operations rose 7% to $302 million. Results reflect higher refined products sales and wholesale fuel margins, partially offset by $20 million employee termination charge.
