Business Summary
Edison International is the holding company for Southern California Edison Company (SCE), a California public utility corporation. As of December 31, 2000, Edison International owned SCE and other subsidiaries engaged in non-utility businesses (Non-utility Companies). These Non-utility Companies are Edison Mission Energy, which is engaged in developing, acquiring, owning or leasing and operating electric power generation facilities worldwide, Edison Capital, a provider of capital and financial services for energy and infrastructure projects and Edison Enterprises, which provides integrated energy services, utility outsourcing and consumer products and services. SCE is a public utility primarily engaged in the business of supplying electric energy to a 50,000-square-mile area of Central and Southern California, excluding the City of Los Angeles and certain other cities.

Financial Summary
EIX is a holding co. for Southern CA Edison, Co. (public utility), Edison Mission (operates electric power generation facilities), Edison Capital (capital and financial serv.), and Edison Enterprises. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues fell 7% to $5.09 billion. Net loss totalled $719 million vs. an income of $247 million. Revenues reflect decreased resale sale volumes. Net loss reflects an increase in purchase-power expense due to higher natural gas prices.
