Business Summary
United Technologies Corporation, through its operating segments, manufactures, installs and services elevators and escalators; manufactures commercial and residential heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems; produces commercial, general aviation and military aircraft engines, and military and commercial helicopters; and supplies transport helicopters. Otis manufactures, sells and installs elevators, escalators, automated people movers and service. Carrier manufactures heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems and equipment, and commercial and transport refrigeration equipment. Pratt & Whitney produces aircraft engines, parts, industrial gas turbines and space propulsion. Flight Systems manufactures helicopters, and sells aircraft power generation and management systems, engine and flight controls, auxiliary power units, environmental control systems and propeller systems, air compressors, metering devices, fluid handling equipment and enclosed gear drives.

Financial Summary
UTX has four principal operating segments: Otis (elevators and escalators), Carrier (heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems), Pratt and Whitney (aircraft engines and space propulsion), Flight Systems (helicopters electrical systems). For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 5% to $14 billion. Net income applicable to Common rose 16% to $1.01 billion. Results reflect higher international sales at Carrier and cost reduction efforts.
