Temple-Inland Inc. is a holding company that conducts all of its operations through its subsidiaries. The business of Temple-Inland is divided among three groups: the Paper Group, which manufactures corrugated packaging products; the Building Products Group, which manufactures a wide range of building products and manages the Company's forest resources consisting of approximately 2.2 million acres of timberland in Texas, Louisiana, Georgia and Alabama; and the Financial Services Group, which consists of savings bank, mortgage banking, real estate, and insurance brokerage activities.

Temple-Inland, Inc., through its subsidiaries, conducts operations in three groups; Paper, Building Products and Financial Services. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues decreased 2% to $2.12 billion. Net income before accounting change decreased 65% to $41 million. Revenues reflect lower buildings products and paper sales volumes. Earnings also reflect lower prices and shipments of all products except MDF.
