Business Summary
Connecticut Water Service Inc. is the parent company of three regulated water utility companies. The Company and its subsidiaries collectively represent the largest domestic investor-owned water system in Connecticut measured by operating revenues and utility plant investment. In addition to its core regulated water business the Company offers related services on a contract basis to other water utilities, communities, businesses and homeowner associations through a number of unregulated subsidiary companies and through a joint venture with a well pump service provider. These services range from one-time contracts for a particular service to long-term arrangements for water and wastewater system operation and management. The Company is also engaged in selling and/or donating its limited excess real estate holdings that are not necessary for its business or to protect its water sources.

Financial Summary
CTWS is the parent company of three regulated water utility companies and several unregulated subsidiary companies in Connecticut. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 1% to $21.2 million. Net income applicable to Common rose 23% to $4.2 million. Revenues reflect increased inome from the Linebacker service line program. Earnings also benefitted from the after tax benefits of the donation of 134 acres of land to the Town of Middlebury.
