Business Summary
First Banks America, Inc. operates through two subsidiary banks and one subsidiary bank holding company, which are First Bank & Trust, (FB&T), and The San Francisco Company (SFC) and its wholly owned subsidiary, Bank of San Francisco (BSF). Through its subsidiary banks, the Company offers a broad range of commercial and personal deposit products, including demand, savings, money market and time deposit accounts. In addition, the Company markets combined basic services for various customer groups, including packaged accounts for more affluent customers, and sweep accounts, lock-box deposits and cash management products for commercial customers. First Banks America also offers both consumer and commercial loans. Other financial services include mortgage banking, credit and debit cards, brokerage services, credit-related insurance, automated teller machines, telephone banking, safe deposit boxes and trust and private banking services.

Financial Summary
FBA is the holding company for two subsidiary banks and one subsidiary bank holding company. For the six months ended 6/30/01, total interest income rose 31% to $107.1 million. Net interest income after LLP rose 26% to $60.3 million. Net income before accounting change rose 22% to $15.5 million. Net interest income reflects higher earning assets, partially offset by increased interest expenses. Earnings were partially offset by higher operating expenses.
