Business Summary
L. B. Foster Company is engaged in the manufacture, fabrication and distribution of products that serve the surface transportation infrastructure. For rail markets, Foster provides a full line of new and used rail, trackwork and accessories to railroads, mines and industry. The Company also designs and produces concrete railroad products, insulated rail joints, power rail, track fasteners, coverboards, signaling and communication devices and special accessories for mass transit and other rail systems worldwide. For the construction industry, the Company sells and rents steel sheet, H-bearing and pipe piling for foundation and earth retention requirements. For tubular markets, the Company supplies pipe coatings for natural gas pipelines and utilities. The Company also produces threaded products for industrial water well and irrigation markets.

Financial Summary
L.B. Foster Company is engaged in the manufacture, fabrication and distribution of rail and trackwork, piling and highway and tubular products. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues increased 4% to $136.4 million. Net loss from continuing operations totalled $874 thousand, vs. an income of $1.3 million. Revenues reflect increased sales volume. Net loss reflects lower gross margin and higher selling and administrative expenses.
