Financial Summary
New York Times CO. is a diversified media company including newspapers, magazines, television and radio stations, electronic information and publishing and interests in forest products. For the six months ended 7/1/01, revenues decreased 8% to $1.54 billion. Net income from continuing operations fell 52% to $84.3 million. Results reflect a slowing U.S. economy which resulted in decreased advertising revenues and an increase in production costs.
