Business Summary
Midwest Banc Holdings, Inc. is a community-based bank holding company. The Company provides a wide range of services, including traditional banking services, personal and corporate trust services, residential mortgage services, insurance brokerage and retail securities brokerage services. The Company's principal operating subsidiaries are four Illinois community banks: Midwest Bank and Trust Company, Midwest Bank of Hinsdale, Midwest Bank of McHenry County and Midwest Bank of Western Illinois (collectively, the Banks). In addition, one of the Banks has a non-bank subsidiary that provides insurance and investment brokerage services, and the Company has one non-bank subsidiary that provides data processing services. The Banks are community-oriented, full-service commercial banks, providing traditional banking services to individuals, small to medium-sized businesses, government and public entities and not-for-profit organizations.

Financial Summary
Midwest Banc Holdings is a community-based bank holding company for four Illinois community banks. For the six months ended 6/30/01, total interest income rose 10% to $57 million. Net interest income after loan loss prov. fell 2% to $21.5 million. Net income rose 14% to $8.1 million. Net interest income reflects growth in earning assets, offset by increased interest earning liabilities. Earnings reflect increased gains on securities transactions.
