Insurance products include property and casualty coverages, life, accident and health insurance and retirement products and annuities. CNA services include risk management, information services, healthcare management, claims administration and employee leasing/payroll processing. CNA conducts its operations through seven operating segments, consisting of Agency Market Operations, Specialty Operations, CNA Re, Global Operations, Risk Management, Group Operations and Life Operations.

Financial Summary
CNA Financial Corporation, through its subsidiaries, is principally engaged in the underwriting of property, casualty, life and accident and health insurance coverages, as well as pension products and annuities. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues fell 13% to $6.35 billion. Net loss applicable to Common before accounting change totaled $1.41 billion, vs. an income of $470 million. Results reflect decreased premiums earned and higher policyholder benefits.
