Business Summary
Banner Corporation, formerly First Washington Bancorp, Inc., is primarily engaged in the business of planning, directing and coordinating the business activities of its wholly owned subsidiaries, Banner Bank (BB) and Banner Bank of Oregon (BBO). Prior to the consolidation and name change that occurred on October 30, 2000, the Company's subsidiaries included First Savings Bank of Washington, Inland Empire Bank and Towne Bank (TB). TB was merged into BB on October 30, 2000. As of December 31, 2000, Banner Bank was a Washington-chartered commercial bank whose deposits were insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation under the Savings Association Insurance Fund. BB has traditionally offered a wide variety of deposit products to its retail customers, while concentrating its lending activities on real estate loans. BBO has offered a wide variety of deposits and loan products to its consumer and commercial customers.

Financial Summary
Banner Corporation is the bank holding company for Banner Bank and Banner Bank of Oregon. For the six months ended 6/30/01, total interest income rose 6% to $80.3 million. Net interest income after loan loss prov. rose less than 1% to $32.8 million. Net income rose 3% to $9.3 million. Net interest income reflects an increase in interest earning assets, partially offset by an increase in deposits. Earnings reflect an increase in service charges and other fees.
