Groupe Danone, as a global food company, is the world leader in fresh dairy products and sweet biscuits, the world's second largest producer of bottled water, and a significant brewer in Europe (leading brewer in France and Spain). Danone's portfolio of brands and products includes national and international market leaders such as Danone (Dannon in the United States), the world's leading brand of fresh dairy products; Evian, the world's leading brand of bottled still water; Volvic, the Group's other major international brand of bottled still water; LU biscuits, one of Europe's major brands; Galbani cheeses, Italy's best-selling brand of cheese; and Kronenbourg, France's best-selling beer. In addition, the Group also produces sauces with internationally known brands such as HP Foods and Lea & Perrins.

Financial Summary
Groupe Danone is a worldwide food manufacturer focused on three product categories: fresh dairy products (mainly yogurt and assimilated products), packaged water and cookies and crackers. For the fiscal year ended 12/31/00, revenues rose 7% to EUR14.29 billion. Net income according to U.S. GAAP increased 27% to EUR807M. Results reflect the internal growth, positive impact of currency conversion rates, strong increase in volumes and a better valuation of products sold.
