Business Summary
Carbo Ceramics Inc. produces and supplies ceramic proppants for use in the hydraulic fracturing of natural gas and oil wells. The Company manufactures four distinct ceramic proppants: CARBOHSP2000, CARBOPROP, CARBOLITE and CARBOECONOPROP. CARBOHSP2000 and CARBOPROP are high-strength proppants designed primarily for use in deep gas wells. The CARBOLITE and CARBOECONOPROP products are lightweight, intermediate-strength proppants designed for use in gas wells of moderate depth and shallower oil wells. The Company predominantly markets its proppant products through pumping service companies that perform hydraulic fracturing for major oil and gas companies.

Financial Summary
Carbo Ceramics Inc. is a producer and supplier of ceramic proppants for use in the hydraulic fracturing of natural gas and oil wells. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues increased 58% to $69.5 million. Net income totaled $13.8 million, up from $6.3 million. Revenues reflect an increase in sales volume and an increase in average selling price, due to a price increase at the begining of the year. Earnings also benefitted from higher operating margins.
