Business Summary
Res-Care, Inc. is a provider of residential, training, educational, and support services to populations with special needs, including persons with developmental and other disabilities and at-risk and troubled youths. The Company's programs include an array of services for adults and youths with mental retardation or other developmental disabilities and disabilities caused by acquired brain injury. The Company's programs also include services for youths who have special educational or support needs, are from disadvantaged backgrounds, or have severe emotional disorders. The Company's disabilities services provide specialized active treatment services to persons with disabilities. The Job Corps program is designed to address the severe unemployment problem faced by disadvantaged youths throughout the United States. The other youth services programs address the specific needs of at-risk and troubled youths to enable each youth to be a more productive member of the community.

Financial Summary
RSCR provides residential, training, educational and support services to populations with special needs, including persons with developmental and other disabilities and at-risk and troubled youths. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues increased 4% to $440.8 million. Net income decreased 69% to $2.7 million. Revenues reflect internal growth and rate increases. Net income was offset by increased energy and insurance expenses.
