The Interpublic Group of Companies, Inc. is comprised of a group of advertising and specialized marketing and communications service companies. Interpublic's agencies and allied companies operate in more than 650 offices in 127 countries around the world. Its business is conducted principally through two advertising and specialized marketing and communication services systems, McCann-Erickson WorldGroup and The Lowe Group, plus a number of additional marketing communications and marketing services networks. On June 22, 2001, the Company acquired True North Communications, a diversified advertising and marketing communications company. McCann-Erickson WorldGroup is a worldwide marketing communications company that includes McCann-Erickson Worldwide, an advertising agency network, as well as specialized companies providing a variety of services. The Lowe Group, with its flagship arm, Lowe Lintas & Partners Worldwide, is an advertising agency network.

For the six months ended 6/01, revenues rose less than 1% to $3.40 billion. Net loss totaled $138.8 million vs. an income of $216.3 million. Revenues reflect growth from acquisitions, along with improvements at existing businesses. Net loss reflects a charge related to the impairment of goodwill.
