Business Summary
Williams Companies, Inc., through its subsidiaries, engages in energy-related activities, including transportation and storage of natural gas and related activities; exploration and production of oil and gas; natural gas gathering, processing and treating activities; natural gas liquids transportation; transportation of petroleum products and related terminal services; light hydrocarbon/olefin transportation; ethylene production; production and marketing of ethanol and bio-products; refining of petroleum products; retail marketing; energy commodity marketing and trading; and communications-related activities. In addition, the Company invests in energy projects, primarily in South America, Lithuania and Canada, and continues to explore and develop additional projects for international investments. Williams also invests in energy and infrastructure development funds.

Financial Summary
WMB is engaged in the transportation and sale of natural gas and petroleum products, and is engaged in energy commodity trading and marketing. WMB also engages in the communications business. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 39% to $5.91 billion. Earnings from continuing operations rose 69% to $717.8 million. Revenues reflect an increase in Energy trading revenues and the acquisition of a canadian operation. Earnings also benefited from increased profit margins.
