White Mountains Insurance Group Ltd. conducts its principal operations through its subsidiaries and affiliates in the businesses of property and casualty insurance and reinsurance. The Company owns Folksamerica Holding Company Inc., a multi-line broker-market reinsurer that provides reinsurance to insurers of property and casualty and accident and health risks in the United States, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean. White Mountains' business approach is to invest all assets to maximize their after-tax total return over extended periods of time. Under this approach, each dollar of after-tax investment income, realized gains and unrealized gains is valued equally.

Financial Summary
White Mountains Insurance Group, Ltd. through its subsidiaries, provides property and casualty insurance, reinsurance and financial guaranty insurance. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues totalled $706.8 million, up from $247 million. Net loss before extraordinary items applicable to Com. totalled $88 million, up from $5.8 million. Revenues reflect increased insurance premiums earned. Net loss suffered from $78.1 million in share appreciation expenses for series B warrants.
