PPL Corporation is an energy and utility holding company that, through its subsidiaries, generates electricity in power plants in the northeastern and western United States; markets wholesale or retail energy in 42 states and Canada; delivers electricity to 5.7 million customers in the United States, United Kingdom and Latin America; and provides energy services for businesses in the mid-Atlantic and northeastern United States. The Company's subsidiaries include PPL Energy Funding Corporation, PPL Electric Utilities Corporation, PPL Gas Utilities Corporation, PPL Services Corporation, and PPL Capital Funding, Inc. PPL is organized in segments consisting of Supply, Delivery and Development.

Financial Summary
PPL Corporation is the parent holding company for PPL Energy Funding Corporation, PPL Electric Utilities Corporation, PPL Gas Utilities Corporation, PPL Services Corporation and PPL Capital Funding. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 10% to $2.98 billion. Net income applicable to Common rose 45% to $339 million. Revenues reflect the acquisition of CEMAR and an increase in gas base rate. Net income reflects lower wholesale prices for energy purchased.
