Schlumberger Limited operates two businesses, Schlumberger Oilfield Services and SchlumbergerSema. Schlumberger Oilfield Services, headquartered in Paris, is a provider of services, solutions and technology to the international petroleum industry. SchlumbergerSema, with headquarters in New York, is an IT (Internet technology) services company providing information technology solutions to the telecommunications, utility, finance, transport and public sectors, and is also a supplier of smart card technology. SchlumbergerSema operates in Northern Europe; France; Spain and Latin America; Italy; Eastern Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Africa; Asia, and North America. The Company acquired Sema plc in April 2001.

Financial Summary
SLB is a provider of services, solutions and technology to the international petroleum industry. The Company also provides information technology solutions to the telecommunications, utility, finance, transport and public sectors. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 44% to $6.69 billion. Net income fell 51% to $142.6 million. Results reflect an increase in oilfield services revenues due to improved pricing, offset by a $280 million impairment charge.
