Business Summary
Hormel Foods Corporation is primarily engaged in the production of a variety of meat and food products and the marketing of those products throughout the United States. The principal products of the Company are meat and food products that are sold fresh, frozen, cured, smoked, cooked and canned. Meat Products include fresh meats, sausages, hams, wieners and bacon. Prepared Foods products include canned luncheon meats, shelf-stable microwaveable entrees, stews, chilies, hash, meat spreads and frozen processed products. The Poultry and Other categories include the Jennie-O turkey products. Products are sold under the Hormel label in all 50 states. The subsidiary, Hormel Foods International Corporation, markets the Company's products in international areas including the Philippines, Japan, Mexico, Costa Rica and various European countries.

Financial Summary
Hormel Foods Corporation is primarily engaged in theproduction of a variety of meat and food products and the marketing of those products throughout the U.S. For the nine months ended 7/28/01, net sales increased 13% to $3.01 billion. Net income increased 4% to $113.6 million. Revenues benefitted from increased tonnage volume and the acquisition of the Turkey Store. Net income was partially offset by increased S/G/A expenses due to costs associated with the acquisition.
