Central Virginia Bankshares, Inc. is a holding company that, through its subsidiary, Central Virginia Bank (the Bank), provides a variety of financial services to individuals and corporate customers through its six branches located in the Virginia counties of Powhatan, Chesterfield and Cumberland. The Bank's primary deposit products are checking accounts, savings accounts and certificates of deposit. Its primary lending products are residential mortgage, construction, installment and commercial business loans. Central Virginia Bank's subsidiary, CVB Title Services, Inc., was organized for the primary purpose of owning membership interests in two insurance-related limited liability companies.

Financial Summary
Central Virginia Bankshares is a one bank holding company for Central Virginia Bank. For the six months ended 6/30/01, interest income increased 2% to $7.8 million. Net interest income after loan loss provision fell 6% to $3.6 million. Net income decreased 5% to $913 thousand. Net interest income reflects an increase in average earning assets, offset by higher interest on deposits. Lower earnings were partially offset by a gain on the sale of securities.
