Business Summary
Continental Airlines, Inc. is a major United States air carrier engaged in the business of transporting passengers, cargo and mail. Continental, together with its wholly owned subsidiaries, Continental Express, Inc. (Express) and Continental Micronesia, Inc. (CMI), served 230 airports worldwide at January 19, 2001. As of January 19, 2001, Continental flew to 136 domestic and 94 international destinations and offered additional connecting service through alliances with domestic and foreign carriers. Continental directly served 16 European cities, seven South American cities, Tel Aviv and Tokyo and provided service to Mexico and Central America. Through its Guam hub, CMI provides extensive service in the western Pacific.

Continental Airlines, Inc. is a United States air carrier engaged in the transportation of passengers, cargo and mail. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 3% to $5.01 billion. Net income before extraordinary item and applicable to Common fell 70% to $51 million. Revenues reflect an increase in revenue passenger miles. Earnings reflect higher average jet fuel price per gallon and an increase in average full-time equivalent employees.
