Williams Communications Group, Inc., through its wholly owned operating subsidiary, Williams Communications, Inc., owns, operates and is extending a nationwide fiber-optic network focused on providing voice, data, Internet and video services to communications services providers. The Company also provides integrated fiber-optic, satellite and teleport video transmission services for the broadcast industry. Following its decision to sell its Solutions segment, the Company has three operating segments: Network, Broadband Media and Strategic Investments.

Financial Summary
WCG, provides voice, data, Internet and video services to communications service providers. WCG also sells, installs and maintains equipment and network services that address the voice and data needs of organizations. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 63% to $557.4 million. Net loss from continuing operations applicable to Common totaled $556.7 million, up from $71.7 million. Revenues reflect higher data and voice services. Higher loss reflects higher connection costs.
