Business Summary
USX - U.S. Steel Group, a subsidiary of USX Corporation, is engaged in the production and sale of steel mill products, coke and taconite pellets; the management of mineral resources; coal mining; real estate development; and engineering and consulting services. Certain business activities are conducted through joint ventures and partially owned companies, such as USS-POSCO Industries (USS-POSCO), PRO-TEC Coating Company (PRO-TEC), Transtar, Inc. (Transtar), Clairton 1314B Partnership, and Republic Technologies International LLC (Republic). On November 24, 2000, USX acquired U. S. Steel Kosice s.r.o. (USSK), which held the steel and related assets of VSZ a.s., headquartered in the Slovak Republic. In February 2000, U. S. Steel Group undertook a minority stake in e-STEEL Corporation, an online exchange for the global steel industry.

Financial Summary
USX-U.S. Steel is engaged in the production and sale of steel mill products, coke, and taconite pellets, the management of mineral resources, domestic coal mining, real estate development and engineering and consulting services. For the three months ended 3/31/01, revenues fell 2% to $1.56 billion. Net income applicable to Common fell 83% to $7 million. Results reflect lower domestic sheet product shipment volumes and prices and reduced credits for S/G/A expenses.
