Business Summary
IBP, Incorporated conducts its business in two segments, Fresh Meats and Foodbrands. Fresh Meats produces fresh beef and processed beef and pork products. Fresh Meats' primary products are marketed mainly in the United States to grocery chains, meat distributors, wholesalers, retailers, restaurant and hotel chains, and food processors. Fresh Meats also produces inedible allied products, such as hides and other items used to manufacture products such as leather, animal feed and pharmaceuticals, and edible allied products, which include variety meat items. Foodbrands produces frozen and refrigerated food products for the foodservice industry.

Financial Summary
IBP produces fresh and processed beef and pork products. IBP also produces frozen and refrigerated food products for the food service industry. For the 26 weeks ended 6/30/01, net sales rose 3% to $8.49 billion. Net income applicable to Common and before extraordinary item and accounting change fell 20% to $62.3 million. Revenues reflect higher live cattle and hog prices. Net income was offset by lower gross margins and higher interest expenses.
