Financial Summary
Philip Morris is a holding company whose principal subsidiaries are engaged in the manufacture and sale of various consumer products, including cigarettes, packaged and processed foods, and beverages. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 11% to $45.55 billion. Net income before accounting change fell 3% to $4.07 billion. Revenues reflect increased domestic tobacco prices. Earnings were offset by higher marketing and litigation-related expenses.
