StanCorp Financial Group, Inc. (StanCorp) is a stock insurance company that offers a variety of financial services for group and individual insurance, retirement plans and investment services. The Company was specifically organized as a parent holding company for its subsidiaries, which include Standard Insurance Company (Standard), The Standard Life Insurance Company of New York, StanCorp Mortgage Investors, LLC and StanCorp Investment Advisers, Inc. StanCorp's largest subsidiary, Standard, underwrites group and individual disability and annuity products, and life and dental insurance for groups. Standard, an admitted re-insurer in New York, is licensed in 49 states, the District of Columbia and the United States Territory of Guam. The Standard Life Insurance Company of New York provides short-term and long-term disability insurance products for groups in New York. StanCorp's other subsidiaries provide complementary financial and management services.

For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 10% to $777.6 million. Net income fell 2% to $52.2 million. Revenues reflect growth in the Employee Benefits-Insurance segment. Lower income reflects higher policyholder benefits expenses.
