Business Summary
American Shared Hospital Services provides Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery services to eight medical centers in seven states. The Company provides these services through its 81% indirect interest in GK Financing, LLC, a California limited liability company (GKF). The Company currently has eight Gamma Knife units operating at eight sites in the United States. In addition, the Company has signed agreements with four more hospitals that are currently under development or construction, plus two signed contracts that are subject to state regulatory approval. The Company's first Gamma Knife commenced operation in September 1991. The Company's Gamma Knife units performed approximately 3,300 procedures through December 31, 1999.

Financial Summary
American Shared Hospital provides Gamma Knife radiosurgery equipment and related service to major hospitals and medical centers, primarily on a fee-per-use basis. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 36% to $5.7 million. Net income rose 14% to $603 thousand. Revenues reflect increased utilization of Gamma Knife and the addition of three Gamma Knife units. Earnings were partially offset by lower gross margins and decreased interest rates on invested cash.
