The Cooper Companies, Inc., through its principal subsidiaries, develops, manufactures and markets healthcare products. CooperVision (CVI) markets a range of contact lenses to correct visual defects, specializing in toric lenses that correct astigmatism. Its leading products are disposable-planned replacement toric and spherical lenses. CVI also markets conventional toric and spherical lenses and lenses for patients with more complex vision disorders. CooperSurgical (CSI) markets diagnostic products, surgical instruments and accessories to the women's healthcare market.

Financial Summary
The Cooper Companies is a specialty healthcare company. Each of its business units serves attractive niche markets in the medical device market with high quality products and services. For the six months ended 4/30/01, revenues rose 15% to $104.9 million. Net income before accounting change rose 30% to $15 million. Revenues reflect increased CVI volumes and CSI existing product sales. Earnings also reflect continuing cost reduction projects.
