Business Summary
Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings is an independent clinical laboratory company in the United States. Through a national network of laboratories, the Company offers more than 4,000 different clinical laboratory tests that are used by the medical profession in routine testing, patient diagnosis, and in the monitoring and treatment of disease. The Company also offers specialized and niche testing services in its network of 24 primary testing facilities and approximately 1,200 service sites consisting of branches, patient service centers and STAT laboratories, serving clients in 50 states. The Company processed an average of approximately 260,000 patient specimens per day in 2000.

Financial Summary
LH, an independent clinical laboratory company, offers a broad range of testing services used by the medical profession in the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of diseases and other clinical states. For the six months ended 6/01, revenues rose 14% to $1.08 billion. Net income applicable to Common totaled $95.6 million, up from $23.8 million. Revenues reflect higher prices and volumes. Net income also reflects the absence of $34.6 million in preferred dividends.
