Business Summary
Cullen/Frost Bankers Inc. (Cullen/Frost) is a wholly owned second tier financial holding company subsidiary that owns all banking and non-banking subsidiaries with the exception of Cullen/Frost Capital Trust I, a statutory business trust and wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company. Cullen/Frost's principal assets consist of all of the capital stock of The Frost National Bank. The products and services offered by the bank include commercial banking, consumer services, international banking, correspondent banking, insurance, trust services and discount brokerage.

Financial Summary
CFR is a multi-bank holding company, operating 79 offices in the state of Texas. For the six months ended 6/30/01, interest income decreased less than 1% to $244.8 million. Net interest income after loan loss provision fell 5% to $143.8 million. Net income before acct. change fell 9% to $48.2 million. Net interest income reflects a decrease in taxable securities, and a lower net interest margin. Earnings also reflect increased salaries and wages.
