Brush Engineered Materials Inc., through its wholly owned subsidiaries, is a manufacturer of high performance engineered materials serving the global telecommunications, computer, automotive electronics, industrial components and optical media markets. The Company's subsidiaries are organized under two reportable segments: the Metal Systems Group and the Microelectronics Group. The Metal Systems Group is comprised of Alloy Products (primarily copper beryllium), Beryllium Products and TMI. The Microelectronics Group is comprised of WAM, Zentrix and Brush Ceramic Products Inc.

Financial Summary
Brush Engineered Materials, Inc., a holding company, manufactures engineered materials producing beryllium, beryllium alloys, beryllia ceramic, specialty metal systems and precious metal products. For the six months ended 6/29/01, sales rose 1% to $274 million. Net income rose 22% to $7.5 million. Revenues reflect higher volumes and improved pricing. Earnings also reflect decreased S/G/A and research and development expenditures.
