Business Summary
DIMON Incorporated is the second largest independent leaf tobacco merchant in the world. Large multinational cigarette manufacturers, with one exception, rely primarily on independent leaf tobacco merchants such as the Company to supply the majority of their leaf tobacco needs. Leaf tobacco merchants select, purchase, process, store, pack, ship and, in certain developing markets, provide agronomy expertise and financing for growing leaf tobacco. The Company's revenues primarily comprise sales of processed tobacco and fees charged for related services to manufacturers of tobacco products around the world. The Company does not manufacture cigarettes or other consumer tobacco products.

Financial Summary
DIMON purchases, processes, packs, and ships leaf tobacco to manufacturers of cigarettes and other tobacco products throughout the world. For the nine months ended 3/31/01, revenues decreased 3% to $1.11 billion. Net income before acct. change totaled $9.4 million, vs. a loss of $411 thousand. Revenues reflect decreases in quantities of foreign grown tobacco. Net income benefitted from a $3.9 million recovery from a litigation settlement.
