Business Summary
The Student Loan Corporation originates, holds and services federally insured student loans through a trust agreement with Citibank (New York State). The Company is an originator/holder of loans originated under the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program, authorized by the Department of Education under the Federal Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended. The Company also holds student loans that are not insured under the Act, including CitiAssist loans. The Company's portfolio is comprised primarily of loans originated through the FFEL Program. These loans consist of subsidized Federal Stafford loans, unsubsidized Federal Stafford loans, Parent Loans to Undergraduate Students (PLUS loans) and Federal Consolidation loans. The Company also owns a portfolio of Health Professions Education Loans that consists of guaranteed student loans in designated health professions under a federally insured loan program administered by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

Financial Summary
The Student Loan Corp. through a trust agreement with Citibank, originates, holds, and services student loans. The loans are primarily made in accordance with the Federally sponsored guaranteed student loan programs. For the six months ended 6/30/01, interest income rose 31% to $622.4 million. Net income rose 14% to $61.2 million. Results reflect growth in average loans outstanding, partially offset by lower margin spreads and higher other expenses.
