Textron, Inc. is a global multi-industry company with operations in five business segments: Aircraft, Automotive, Fastening Systems, Industrial Products and Finance. The Company's Aircraft segment consists of Bell Helicopter Textron and Cessna Aircraft Company. The Automotive segment, organized under an umbrella organization called Textron Automotive Company Inc., consists of Textron Automotive Trim, CWC Textron and Kautex Textron. Textron Fastening Systems comprises the Company's Fastening Systems segment. The Industrial Products segment, Textron Industrial Products, is comprised of Greenlee Textron; Textron Golf, Turf & Specialty Products; Textron Fluid and Power Systems; Textron Systems; OmniQuip Textron; and Textron Industrial Components. The Finance segment consists of Textron Financial Corporation and its subsidiaries.

Financial Summary
TXT is engaged in the manufacture of helicopters and spare parts, light and mid-size business jets, turboprop and piston aircraft, automotive interior and engine components, and industrial tools, fasteners and components. For the six months ended 6/30/01, sales fell 4% to $6.33 billion. Earnings before accounting changes fell 29% to $239 million. Results reflect lower North American automotive OEM production. Earnings also reflect $77 million in special charges.
