Telecom Argentina STET-France Telecom is the main component of a leading telecommunication group in Argentina. Telecom was formed as a result of the privatization of ENTel, a government owned company in charge of the provision of the public telecommunication services, having started its operations in November 1990. Telecom is licensed for an unlimited period of time to provide with national coverage Basic Telephone Services, which include the provision of local, domestic, and international long-distance telephone services, and the supply of fixed telecommunications links. The Company also owns interests in various telecommunications related entities.

Financial Summary
Telecom Argentina STET-France Telecom S.A. is engaged in the provision of telecommunication services in the northern region of the Argentine Republic. For the six months ended 6/30/01, net sales fell 4% to P$1.53 billion. Net income fell 61% to P$41 million. Revenues reflect reduced revenues from long distance services due to the application of significant price reductions. Earnings also suffered from increased administrative and selling expenses.
