NUI Corporation is a multi-state company engaged in the sale and distribution of natural gas, energy commodity trading and marketing, and telecommunications. The Company's utility divisions serve more than 376,000 customers in six states along the eastern seaboard of the United States and comprise Elizabethtown Gas, City Gas Company of Florida, North Carolina Gas, Valley Cities Gas, Elkton Gas and Waverly Gas. The Company's non-regulated businesses include NUI Energy Brokers; NUI Energy, Inc.; NUI Energy Solutions, Inc.; NUI Environmental Group, Inc.; Utility Business Services, Inc.; and NUI Telecom, Inc. The Company also provides sales outsourcing through its 49% equity interest in TIC Enterprises, LLC. The Company's operations are organized and managed under three primary segments: Distribution Services, Energy Sales and Services, and Customer Services.

Financial Summary
NUI Corporation, is a multi-state energy sales, services and distribution company whose utility operations distribute natural gas and related services in six states along the eastern seaboard. For the nine months ended 6/30/01, operating revenues rose 37% to $976.2 million. Net income fell 11% to $23.8 million. Revenues reflect higher gas prices charged and customer growth. Earnings were offset by costs associated with acquisitions and increased employee costs.
