Business Summary
Coinstar, Inc. owns and operates a nationwide fully automated network of self-service coin-counting machines installed in supermarkets across the United States. With over 200 retail partners, primarily supermarket chains, the Company currently operates more than 8,400 Coinstar units in approximately 121 regional markets across the United States. Its network of machines is available to over 137 million consumers in 46 states and the District of Columbia. The Company's wholly owned international coin-counting business, Coinstar International, Inc. is piloting 27 Coinstar units in the United Kingdom with Tesco Stores Ltd, Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd and Asda Stores Ltd. Coinstar International is also piloting 58 units in Canada. The Company is also capitalizing on its extensive retail relationships and its fully automated network of self-service coin-counting machines through its 89%-owned subsidiary, Meals.com, Inc.

Financial Summary
Coinstar develops, owns and operates a network of automated, self-service coin counting and processing machines that provide consumers with a convenient means of converting loose coins into cash. For the six months ended 6/30/01, sales rose 28% to $58.4 million. Net loss from continuing operations fell 81% to $1 million. Revenues reflect increased Coinstar units in service. Lower loss reflects a decrease in sales and marketing expenses.
