Business Summary
State Street Corporation, a financial holding company, provides investment services and management through its subsidiary, State Street Bank and Trust Company. The Investment Services business line includes accounting, administration, custody, daily pricing, operations outsourcing, securities lending, foreign exchange, record keeping, deposit and short-term investment facilities, lease financing and information services. Management Services are comprised of a range of investment management strategies, securities lending, specialized investment management advisory services and investment management and other financial services. Clients include mutual funds and other collective investment funds, corporate and public pension funds, investment managers and others. Services are provided from 31 offices in the United States and numerous other offices internationally.

Financial Summary
STT, a bank holding company for State Street Bank and Trust Company, provides financial asset services, investment management and commercial lending services. For the six months ended 6/01, interest income rose 6% to $1.59 billion. Net interest income after loan prov. rose 14% to $482 million. Net income fell 3% to $288 million. Net interest income reflects customer growth and improved spreads. Earnings were offset by lower management fees due to equity portfolio's declining market values.
