Franklin Resources, Inc. provides United States and international individual and institutional investors with a broad range of investment products and services designed to meet varying investment objectives. This affords its clients the opportunity to allocate their investment resources among various alternative investment products as changing worldwide economic and market conditions warrant. The Company provides investment advisory and related services to retail mutual funds, institutional and private accounts, and other investment products globally. In addition, the Company provides mutual funds and other products that are sold to the public under three brand names: Franklin, Templeton, and Mutual Series. The Company's banking/finance group offers consumer lending and selected retail banking services directly to the public.

Financial Summary
Franklin Resources, Inc. and its subsidiaries derive revenues from providing investment management, administration, distribution and related services to the Franklin, Templeton and Mutual Series funds, institutional accounts and others. For the nine months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose less than 1% to $1.75 billion. Net income fell 5% to $400.9 million. Results reflect an increase in assets under management, offset by higher compensation and benefits cost.
