Business Summary
U.S. Aggregates, Inc. is a producer of aggregates, primarily crushed stone, sand and gravel and associated aggregate-based materials and services. Its products are used primarily for the construction and maintenance of highways and other infrastructure projects and for commercial and residential construction, in nine states. In 2000, the Company shipped approximately 19.7 million tons of aggregates, primarily to customers in nine Southeast and Mountain states, of which approximately 88% were crushed stone or sand and gravel, and approximately 12% were unprocessed material. The Company operates through two wholly owned subsidiaries, SRM Holdings Corp. and Western Aggregates Holding Corp.

Financial Summary
AGA is a producer and marketer of aggregates and aggregate-based materials and services. Aggregates consist of crushed stone, sand and gravel and are used for the construction and maintenance of highways. For the six months ended 6/30/01, sales fell 25% to $103.9 million. Net loss before extraordinary items totaled $40.7 million, up from $2.0 million. Results reflect the absence of sales from operations sold and closed in '00 and the 1st half of '01, and $14.8 million in asset impairment charges.
