Business Summary
Matthews International Corporation is a designer, manufacturer and marketer of custom-made products that are used to identify people, places, products and events. The Company's products and operations are comprised of three business segments: Bronze, Graphics Imaging and Marking Products. The Bronze segment is a manufacturer of cast bronze memorials and other memorialization products, crematories and cremation-related products and a builder of mausoleums. The Graphics Imaging segment manufactures and provides printing plates, pre-press services and imaging systems for the corrugated and flexible packaging industries. The Marking Products segment designs, manufactures and distributes marking equipment and consumables for identifying various consumer and industrial products, components and packaging containers.

Financial Summary
Matthew's International designs, manufactures and markets custom-made products used to identify people, places, products and events. The operations are comprised of three business segments: Bronze, Graphics Imaging and Marking Products. For the nine months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 2% to $204.4 million. Net income rose 13% to $23.6 million. Revenues reflect the acquisition of The SLN Group, Inc. Earnings also reflect internal cost control initiatives.
