Business Summary
Conoco Inc. is an integrated, global energy company with three operating segments: upstream, downstream and emerging businesses. Upstream activities include exploring for, developing, producing and selling crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids. Downstream activities include refining crude oil and other feedstocks into petroleum products; buying and selling crude oil and refined products; and transporting, distributing and marketing petroleum products. Emerging businesses activities involve the development of new businesses, beyond the Company's traditional operations, with the potential to contribute substantially to long-term growth. Conoco operates in over 40 countries worldwide.

Financial Summary
Conoco is principally engaged in exploring for, and developing, producing and selling crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids, refining of crude oil and other feedstocks into petroleum products, and transporting and distributing petroleum products. For the six months ended 6/30/01, total revenues rose 16% to $21.02 billion. Net income before acct. chg. rose 37% to $1.17 billion. Results reflect higher natural gas prices and stronger refining margins.
