Business Summary
American Italian Pasta Company produces and markets dry pasta in North America. The Company's product line, comprising over 2,500 stock-keeping units, includes long goods such as spaghetti, linguine, fettuccine, angel hair and lasagna, and short goods such as elbow macaroni, mostaccioli, rigatoni, rotini, ziti and egg noodles. In many instances, the Company produces pasta to its customers' specifications. The Company makes over 80 different shapes and sizes of pasta products in over 170 package configurations, including bulk packages for institutional customers and smaller individually wrapped packages for retail consumers.

Financial Summary
American Italian Pasta produces and markets more than 80 dry pasta shapes to retail and institutional markets in North America. For the 39 weeks ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 19% to $218.7 million. Net income rose 6% to $21.4 million. Revenues reflect volume growth in the private label and ingredient business units, and higher per unit selling prices associated with the Mueller's acquisition. Net income was partially offset by increased selling and marketing expenses.
