Business Summary
US LEC Corp. is a provider of integrated telecommunications services, including local, long distance, data, Internet and enhanced services to customers in selected markets in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Washington D.C. US LEC is also certified to provide telecommunications services in Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Texas. The Company primarily serves telecommunications-intensive customers, including businesses, universities, financial institutions, professional service firms and practices, hospitals, enhanced service providers, Internet service providers, hotels, automobile dealerships and government agencies. As of September 30, 2000, US LEC reported over 74,600 business trunks, over 24,000 ISP/ESP trunks and over 22,500 business lines.

Financial Summary
CLEC is a provider of integrated telecommunications services, including local, long distance, data, Internet and enhanced services to primarily business, university and institutional customers. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 57% to $81.1 million. Net loss applicable to Common fell 29% to $36.7 million. Results reflect an increase in the Company's core business and the absence of a $55 million recurring non-cash charge for the loss on the resolution of disputed revenue.
