Business Summary
BostonFed Bancorp, Inc. is the holding company of Boston Federal Savings Bank (Boston Federal) and Broadway National Bank, (Broadway National), a nationally chartered commercial bank. BostonFed is a registered multi-bank holding company whose principal business is conducted through its wholly owned subsidiaries, Boston Federal and Broadway National (collectively, the Banks). Through the Banks, BostonFed attracts retail deposits from the general public in the greater Boston metropolitan area and other areas of New England, and invests those deposits, together with funds generated from operations, loan sales and borrowings, primarily in one- to four-family residential mortgage loans. BostonFed also invests in commercial real estate, construction and land, multi-family mortgage, equity lines of credit, business and consumer loans and other investments.

Financial Summary
BostonFed Bancorp, Inc. is a bank holding company for Boston Federal Savings Bank. For the six months ended 6/30/01, total interest income rose 8% to $47.8 million. Net interest income after loan loss provision rose 5% to $18.2 million. Net income fell 5% to $4.5 million. Net interest income reflects increased earning assets, partially offset by capital securities distributions. Net income was offset by the absence of $274 thousand in real estate income recognition.
