Business Summary
El Paso Corporation, formerly known as El Paso Energy Corp., is a global energy company originally founded in 1928 in El Paso, Texas. For many years, the Company served as a regional pipeline company conducting business mainly in the western United States. However, over the past five years, the Company has grown, and now its operations span the wholesale energy value chain, from natural gas production and extraction to power generation. The Company's growth during this period was accomplished through a series of strategic acquisitions, transactions and internal growth initiatives. The Company's principal operations include the transportation, gathering, processing and storage of natural gas; the marketing of energy and energy-related commodities and products; the generation of power; the development and operation of energy infrastructure facilities; and the exploration and production of natural gas and oil.

Financial Summary
EPG is engaged in the interstate and intrastate transportation, gathering and processing of natural gas; the marketing of natural gas, power and other commodities; and the development and operation of energy infrastructure facilities. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 62% to $31.12 billion. Net loss before extraordinary item totaled $524 million vs. an income of $600 million. Results reflect the successful integration with Coastal, offset by merger-related costs.
