Business Summary
Florida East Coast Industries Inc is a holding company that is engaged, through four wholly owned subsidiaries, in rail and trucking operations, real estate, and telecommunications. The Company's rail operations connect many of the major population centers and port facilities of Florida, and provide efficient service for its customers through multiple competitive connections to the rest of North America. The Company's real estate subsidiary, Flagler Development Company has extensive and valuable real estate holdings in Florida. EPIK Communications Incorporated, another subsidiary, is a provider of wholesale telecommunications private line services in the Southeast. FECI also owns Florida Express Carriers, Inc., a common and contract motor carrier operating throughout the United States, with a concentration in the Southeast.

Financial Summary
Florida East Coast Industries and its subsidiaries principal operations relate to the transportation of goods by rail and to the development, leasing, management and sale of real estate. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues increased 14% to $148.1 million. Net income decreased 68% to $5.7 million. Revenues reflect increased Flagler Realty sales. Net income was offset by the investment and net operating losses of EPIK.
