Business Summary
Financial Institutions, Inc. is a community bank holding company that owns multiple community banks, all of which are separately managed. The Company owns four commercial banks, Wyoming County Bank, The National Bank of Geneva, The Pavilion State Bank and First Tier Bank & Trust, which provide consumer, commercial and agricultural banking services in Western and Central New York State. The Company is also the parent company of The FI Group, Inc., a brokerage subsidiary. Financial 's strategy has been to manage its bank subsidiaries on a decentralized basis.

Financial Summary
FISI is a multiple bank holding company which owns four commercial banks that provide consumer, agricultural and commercial banking services in western and central N.Y. For the six months ended 6/30/01, interest income rose 21% to $54.9 million. Net interest income after LLP rose 16% to $27.7 million. Net income applicable to Common rose 16% to $9.2 million. Results reflect higher earning assets, partially offset by increased interest expenses and higher salaries and benefits costs.
