Alcoa, Inc. is a producer of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum and alumina, and is active in all major aspects of the aluminum industry, including technology, mining, refining, smelting, fabricating and recycling. Alcoa serves customers worldwide in the packaging, consumer, automotive and transportation, aerospace, building and construction, industrial products and distribution markets. Related Company businesses include packaging machinery, precision castings, vinyl siding, plastic bottles and closures, fiber-optic cables and electrical distribution systems for cars and trucks. Alcoa has operating locations in 37 countries. The Company's operations consist of five worldwide segments: Alumina and Chemicals, Primary Metals, Flat-Rolled Products, Engineered Products, and Packaging and Consumer.

Financial Summary
Alcoa, Inc. is an integrated aluminum company producing and selling aluminum, semi-fabricated and finished aluminum products and alumina. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues increased 21% to $12.17 billion. Net income before accounting change applicable to Common fell 2% to $710 million. Revenues benefitted from the Reynolds and Cordant acquisitions. Net income was offset by increased energy costs, depreciation expense and a $212 million special charge.
