Allmerica Financial Corp. is a non-insurance holding company. The Company offers financial products and services in two major areas, Risk Management and Asset Accumulation. Within these broad areas, the Company conducts business principally in three operating segments. These segments are Risk Management, Allmerica Financial Services and Allmerica Asset Management. The Company's Risk Management segment consists primarily of its property and casualty operations. The Company's Asset Accumulation segment consists of Allmerica Financial Services, which offers individual financial products and the group retirement products. Through the Allmerica Asset Management segment, the Company offers Stable Value Products, such as Guaranteed Investment Contracts (GICs) and funding agreements.

Financial Summary
Allmerica Financial Corp. is a holding co. for a group of insurance and financial services companies, offering financial products and services in Risk Management and Retirement and Asset Accumulation. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 5% to $1.64 billion. Net income before acct. change fell 49% to $39.6 million. Results reflect higher sales from the Risk Management segment, offset by higher losses and loss adjustment expenses.
