Business Summary
Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. produces, cleans, grades and packages fresh shell eggs for sale to shell egg retailers. In addition, the Company produces specialty eggs such as Eggo land's Best and Farmhouse eggs, and has livestock operations that sell milk and cattle. Sales of shell eggs primarily are made to national and regional supermarket chains that buy direct from the Company. In fiscal 2000, the Company sold 526 million dozen shell eggs. The Company markets the majority of its eggs in 26 states, primarily in the southwestern, southeastern, mid-western and mid-Atlantic regions of the United States.

Financial Summary
CALM is engaged in the production, cleaning, grading, packing, and sale of fresh eggs and in the manufacture and sale of egg products. For the fiscal year ended 6/2/01, net sales rose 25% to $358.4 million. Net income totaled $6.8 million vs. a loss of $17.4 million. Revenues reflect increased dozens sold and higher selling prices of shell eggs due to higher demand. Net income also reflects improved gross margins and an increase in other income.
