Torchmark is the parent company for the businesses operated by Liberty National Life Insurance Company and Globe Life And Accident Insurance Company, United American Insurance Company, Waddell & Reed Inc., United Investors Life Insurance Company along with their respective subsidiaries and American Income Life Insurance Company. The Company offers different life insurance products and supplemental health products, such as Medicare Supplement, cancer and other health policies. The Company also offers annuity products, such as single-premium deferred annuities, flexible-premium deferred annuities and variable annuities.

Financial Summary
TMK, an insurance and diversified financial services holding company, provides individual life and supplemental health insurance, annuities and related products. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 11% to $1.36 billion. Net income applicable to Common from continuing operations before extraordinary items rose 16% to $200.5 million. Results reflect increases in life, health and other premiums, increased realized investment gains and lower preferred dividends.
