Business Summary
NACCO Industries, Inc. is a holding company whose four principal operating subsidiaries function in three distinct industries, lignite mining, lift trucks and housewares. The Company's wholly owned subsidiary, North American Coal Corp. (NACoal), mines and markets lignite for use primarily as fuel for power providers. NACoal also provides dragline mining services for a limerock quarry near Miami, Florida. NACCO Materials Handling Group designs, engineers, manufactures, sells and services a full line of lift trucks and service parts marketed worldwide under the Hyster and Yale brand names. NACCO Housewares Group consists of Hamilton Beach-Proctor-Silex Inc., a manufacturer and marketer of small electric motor and heat-driven appliances, as well as commercial products for restaurants, bars and hotels, and The Kitchen Collection, Inc., a national specialty retailer of brand-name kitchenware, small electrical appliances and related accessories.

Financial Summary
NC is a holding company for it's four subsidiaries. These subsidiaries manufacture forklift trucks and parts, and small electronic appliances; operate kitchen appliance stores; and mine and market lignite coal. For the six months ended 6/01, revenues fell less than 1% to $1.39 billion. Net income before accounting change fell 10% to $20.5 million. Revenues reflect decreased service parts sales. Earnings reflect lower absorption of overhead costs.
