Through its subsidiaries, the Company provides wealth management and global investment management for individual and institutional investors, global investment services for businesses and institutions and a variety of banking services for individuals and small, mid-size and large businesses and institutions. The Company has six core business sectors. They consist of Wealth Management, Global Investment Management, Global Investment Services, Regional Consumer Banking, Specialized Commercial Banking and Large Corporate Banking.

Financial Summary
Mellon Financial, a multibank holding company, provides financial products and services in domestic and international markets. For the six months ended 6/30/01, interest income increased 2% to $733 million. Net interest income after loan loss provision increased 11% to $297 million. Net income from continuing operations fell 22% to $301 million. Net interest income reflects higher securities income, and loan loss credits. Earnings were offset by higher staff costs.
