Fauquier Bankshares, Inc. is a bank holding company that owns all of the voting shares of The Fauquier Bank (TFB). The Company engages in its business through TFB, a state-chartered bank. The Company has no significant operations other than owning the stock of TFB. TFB provides a range of consumer and commercial banking services to individuals, businesses and industries. The deposits of TFB are insured up to applicable limits by the Bank Insurance Fund of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. The revenues of TFB are primarily derived from interest on, and fees received in connection with, real estate and other loans, as well as from interest and dividends from investment and mortgage-backed securities and short-term investments.

Financial Summary
FBSS is a registered bank holding company and owns all of the voting shares of The Fauquier Bank, a Virginia state-chartered bank. For the six months ended 6/30/01, interest income rose 13% to $9.8 million. Net interest income after loan loss prov. rose 6% to $5.9 million. Net income rose 31% to $1.9 million. Net interest income reflects increased loan originations, partially offset by higher interest expense. Earnings reflect a $542 thousand non-loan chargeoff recovery.
