International Paper Company is a global forest products, paper and packaging company that is complemented by an extensive distribution system, with primary markets and manufacturing operations in the United States, Canada, Europe, the Pacific Rim and South America. The Company's businesses are separated into six segments, Printing Papers; Industrial and Consumer Packaging; Distribution; Forest Products; Chemicals and Petroleum, and Carter Holt Harvey. Printing papers include white papers and bristols, coated papers, market pulp and newsprint. Containerboard products include bleached packaging board, industrial papers and industrial and consumer packaging. Specialty products include tissue. Forest products include panels (sq. ft 3/8" basis), lumber (board feet), MDF (sq.ft 3/4" basis) and particleboard (sq. ft 3/4" basis).

Financial Summary
International Paper Company is a global forest products, paper and packaging company that is complemented by an extensive distribution system. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 3% to $13.58 billion. Net loss before accounting change totaled $341 million vs. an income of $648 million. Revenues reflect the Champion acquisition. Net loss reflects higher energy costs, $465 million in restructuring charges, and increased interest expense.
