Biomet, Inc. designs, manufactures and markets products used primarily by orthopedic medical specialists in both surgical and non-surgical therapy. For the fiscal year ended 5/31/01, net sales rose 12% to $1.03 billion. Net income applicable to Common rose 14% to $197.5 million. Revenues reflect continued penetration of the reconstructive device market and higher sales of spinal products. Earnings also reflect improved manufacturing efficiencies.
