DTE Energy Company is a holding company that conducts its business through its principal operating subsidiary, Detroit Edison, and other subsidiaries engaged in energy-related businesses. The Company's business segments include its electric utility, Detroit Edison; its energy trading company; and energy its services business, which develops and manages energy-related projects and services primarily concentrated in the steel industry. Other activities include businesses involved in new energy technologies. Detroit Edison represented approximately 87% and 74% of the Company's assets and revenues, respectively, at December 31, 2000.

Financial Summary
DTE Energy Company is an exempt holding company for The Detroit Edison Company, a public utility engaged in the generation, purchase, transmission, distribution and sale of electric energy in southeastern MI. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 39% to $3.63 billion. Net income applicable to Comm. before acct. change fell 79% to $48 million. Results reflect higher non-regulated revenues due to an increased level of operations, offset by increased fuel costs.
