ING Groep N.V. operates in more than 60 countries worldwide, and is one of the world's largest integrated financial service providers, offering a comprehensive range of life and non-life insurance, commercial and investment banking, asset management and related products and services. ING America Insurance Holdings, Inc. is the primary holding company for ING Group's insurance interests in the United States and is a wholly owned subsidiary of ING Group. In December 2000, the Company completed the acquisition of Aetna Financial Services and Aetna International, which encompass Aetna Inc.'s international operations and all domestic defined contribution plan businesses, annuities and mutual funds, financial and investment products and investment advisory services. With this purchase, ING is among the top 10 financial services providers in the U.S., and through Aetna's international operations in South America and the Asia/Pacific, among the leading insurance providers in the world.

Financial Summary
ING Groep N.V. is a global financial institution of Dutch origin which is active in the fields of banking, insurance and asset management in some 60 countries. For the three months ended 3/31/01, total revenues fell 17% to EUR11.4 billion. Net income rose 11% to EUR1.13 billion. Results reflect increased losses from investments of the insurance operations for risk of policyholders, offset by by improved underwriting results.
