Business Summary
AmSurg Corp. was formed for the purpose of developing, acquiring and operating practice-based ambulatory surgery centers in partnerships with physician practice groups throughout the United States. An AmSurg surgery center is typically located adjacent to or in the immediate vicinity of the specialty medical practice of a physician group partner's office. Each of the surgery centers provides a narrow range of high volume, lower-risk surgical procedures, generally in a single specialty and has been designed with a cost structure that enables the Company to charge fees for services performed on an outpatient basis. As of December 31, 2000, the Company owned a majority interest in 81 surgery centers in 24 states and the District of Columbia.

Financial Summary
AmSurg Corp. develops, acquires and operates practice-based ambulatory surgery centers, in partnership with physician practice groups, throughout the U.S. For the six months ended 6/01, revenues rose 43% to $94.6 million. Net income increased 51% to $6.4 million. Revenues reflect additional centers in operation and additional procedure volumes. Earnings also reflect improved margins due to a greater mix of ophthalmology procedures, which carry higher rates.
