Tenneco Automotive Inc. is a manufacturer of automotive emissions control and ride-control products and systems for both the original equipment market and the replacement market or aftermarket. The Company serves both original equipment manufacturers and replacement markets worldwide through brands including Monroe brand ride control and Walker brand emissions control products. As an automotive parts supplier, Tenneco designs, markets and sells individual component parts for vehicles, as well as groups of components that are combined as modules or systems within vehicles. These parts, modules and systems are sold globally to the vast majority of vehicle manufacturers and throughout all aftermarket distribution channels.

Financial Summary
TEN is a manufacturer of automotive emissions control and ride control products and systems sold under Monroe and Walker brand names. For the three months ended 3/31/01, revenues fell 2% to $864 million. Net loss totaled $31 million vs. an income of $1 million. Revenues reflect a decline in North America original equipment manufacturers production due to cut backs in both light truck and heavy-duty vehicle segments. Net loss reflects an increase in production costs.
