New World Coffee-Manhattan Bagel, Inc. is one of the largest franchisors of bagel bakeries and coffee bars in the United States. It operates and franchises bagel bakeries and coffee bars in 26 states throughout the United States and the District of Columbia. The Company's Manhattan Bagel stores offer more than 23 varieties of fresh baked bagels, as well as bagel sticks and bialys. The Company's Chesapeake Bagel Bakery stores offer a variety of freshly baked bagels as well as other baked goods and dessert items. The Chesapeake stores also offer an extensive variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, coffee, salads and soups. The Company's New World Coffee stores offer, over the course of any given year, up to 30 varieties and blends of fresh roasted coffee, in brewed and whole bean format, from coffee producing countries around the world.

Financial Summary
New World Coffee-Manhattan Bagel owns, operates and franchises coffee bars, bagel bakeries and integrated coffee bar/bagel bakeries in 26 states and internationally. For the 26 weeks ended 7/3/01, revenues increased 85% to $35.7 million. Net loss applicable to Common totalled $24.5 million vs. income of $1.4 million. Revenues reflect additional retail sales from Company owned stores acquired. Net loss suffered from $9.5 million in reorganization and other non-recurring charges.
