Business Summary
Mueller Industries, Inc. is a manufacturer of copper, brass, plastic, and aluminum products. Products include: copper tube and fittings; brass and copper alloy rod, bar, and shapes; aluminum and brass forgings; aluminum and copper impact extrusions; plastic fittings and valves; refrigeration valves and fittings; and fabricated tubular products. The Company's businesses are managed and organized into three segments: Standard Products Division (SPD); Industrial Products Division (IPD); and Other Businesses. SPD manufactures and sells copper tube, copper and plastic fittings, and valves. IPD manufactures and sells brass and copper alloy rod, bar, and shapes; aluminum and brass forgings; aluminum and copper impact extrusions; refrigeration valves and fittings; fabricated tubular products; and gas valves and assemblies. Other Businesses include Utah Railway Company and other natural resource properties and interests.

Financial Summary
Mueller Industries Inc. manufactures brass, copper, plastic, and aluminum products. Mueller also owns a short-line railroad and various natural resource properties in the Western United States. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues fell 13% to $562.6 million. Net income decreased 36% to $36.2 million. Revenues reflect a decrease in the average price of copper. Net income reflects lower margins due to a decline in volume.
