Planet Hollywood International, Inc. is a creator and worldwide developer of consumer brands that capitalize on the appeal of movies, sports and other entertainment-based themes. The Company has promoted its brands primarily through the operation of theme restaurants, most notably Planet Hollywood, that provide dining and entertainment. Through integrated retail stores, the Company offers a broad selection of merchandise displaying its logos. An important part of the Company's strategy has been to promote its brands through the active involvement of celebrities and celebrity stockholders. In addition, the Company's theme restaurants are characterized by distinctive design features, and are generally located at high-profile sites or in major tourist markets. Units generally range in size from approximately 12,000 to 36,000 square feet, and in seating capacity from 230 to 600 persons.

Financial Summary
PHWD operates and franchises Planet Hollywood and Official All-Star Cafe theme restaurants, which also offer retail merchandise displaying Company logos. For the 13 weeks ended 4/1/01, revenues fell 24% to $33.2 million. Net loss fell 20% to $10.6 million. Revenues reflect the closing of six restaurants and lower franchise sales. Lower loss reflects lower operating expenses and a $5.2 million gain on the dissolution of joint venture.
