Business Summary
Main Street Banks, Inc., formerly First Sterling Banks, Inc., is a financial holding company. The Company engages, through its subsidiaries, Main Street Bank (the Bank) and Williamson, Musselwhite & Main Street Insurance, Inc. (Williamson), in providing a full range of banking, mortgage banking, investment and insurance services to its retail and commercial customers, located primarily in Barrow, Clarke, Cobb, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Newton, Rockdale and Walton counties, in Georgia. The Company provides a full range of traditional banking, mortgage banking, investment and insurance services to individual and corporate customers. The Bank, a commercial bank, provides traditional deposit, lending and mortgage and securities brokerage services. Williamson provides a variety of insurance products for consumers, including life, health, homeowners, automobile and umbrella liability coverage.

Financial Summary
Main Street Banks is a multi-bank holding company whose subsidiary banks serve Cobb, Gwinnett and surrounding counties in Georgia. For the six months ended 6/30/01, total interest income rose 9% to $43.6 million. Net interest income after loan loss prov. rose less than 1% to $22.7 million. Net income rose 4% to $6.4 million. Net interest income reflects increased earning assets, partially offset by lower net margin. Earnings benefitted from increased service charges.
