PROFILE |
 |
The Lamaur Corporation (formerly Electronic Hair Styling) cares for hair. Its shampoos, conditioners, hair sprays, and other styling aids are sold under such brand names as Salon Style, Willow Lake, B in10se, and others. Lamaur markets its products mainly to mass merchandisers, drugstores, and food retailers; Wal-mart accounts for 27% of sales. The company has sold the manufacturing plant that serviced its contract manufacturing business and no longer operates in that arena. To pay down debt, the company sold its professional salon products line in 1998 to a subsidiary of Japanese cosmetics giant Shiseido. About 26% of Lamaur is owned by the estate of late CEO Don Hoff, who died in 1999.
