PROFILE River Oaks Furniture keeps trying to replace the upholstery, but maybe its the frame that's worn out. Out of bankruptcy with a new address and new management, the refinished company makes mid-priced upholstered and leather furniture, including love seats, sofas, and chairs, under the River Oaks brand (after bankruptcy it stopped making the River Crest and Gaines Furniture Co. brands). River Oaks' products are made at its Mississippi factory and sold by furniture and other retailers throughout the US. Despite a fresh start, a former company executive was sentenced to federal prison in 2000 for embezzling nearly a million bucks.
