PROFILE American Derringer owner Elizabeth Saunders is a pistol. She stars in her own ads clad in a bustierre while brandishing her signature handgun, the Lady Derringer, the company's best-seller. The tiny pistol of Wild West fame fits a petite palm with its faux ivory grip engraved with the image of a Victorian lady. American Derringer also offers a variety of pistols and accessories such as holsters, perfume, and scarves. The company targets women in need of a shooting iron and collectors in need of an item. American Derringer is the only US gunsmith owned by a woman. Company founder Robert Saunders hired Elizabeth Bowen for his sales staff.
