Testing, testing. Founded in 1961, TSI provides customers worldwide with sensors and instrumentation equipment, include heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning sensors that monitor air quality, temperature, and humidity in working and military environments; meteorological sensors that measure weather and pollution conditions; and thermal anemometers, which measure the flow rate of liquids in quality control applications. After an extended negotiation that started with a failed 1999 takeover bid, in 2000 the company was acquired and taken private by JJF Group, a private investment vehicle formed by John Fauth (CEO of Churchill Companies, which has bought about 30 companies since Fauth founded it in 1982).
