PROFILE |

VEBA Oel digs deep and wide, engaging in oil and gas exploration and production in 13 countries worldwide, primarily in the North Sea and Latin America. It has proved reserves of 600 million barrels of oil and 314 billion cu. ft. of natural gas. The company also has refining and marketing operations across Europe. Its Ruhr Oel joint venture with South American oil giant Petróleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA) operates a refinery and petrochemical plants. VEBA Oel's Aral gas station chain is Germany's largest, with 2,800 stations in that country and surrounding nations. The company is a subsidiary of German giant E.ON, which has announced plans to sell a majority stake in VEBA Oel to BP.
