PROFILE Portugal's primary oil and gas group, Petróleos de Portugal - Petrogal produces, transports, refines, distributes and sells crude oil, natural gas, and oil products. It operates mainly in Portugal and Spain, but also has operations in half a dozen former Portuguese colonies in Africa. Primarily a refining company, Petrogal is seeking to expand its exploration and production efforts in order to bolster its oil supply. It is also looking to move into the cogeneration business, develop its aromatic chemical operations, and play a major role in Portugal's natural gas project.
