PROFILE |
 |
Well, of course grape growers want to hang out in a bunch! The 1,400 or so grower-owners in the National Grape Cooperative Association supply purple, red, and white grapes from nearly 46,000 acres of vineyards to well-known, wholly owned subsidiary Welch Foods. Welch's sells juices, jams, and jellies under the Welch's and BAMA brands. Other products include co-branded candy (with Russell Stover) and fresh grapes (distributed by C.H. Robinson Worldwide). Welch's is the #1 marketer of Concord and Niagara grape products. Jelly is a slowing market, but new juice innovations and single-serving items -- along with newly discovered health benefits of purple and white grape juice -- are driving sales.
