Meiji Milk Products Co., Ltd.
 PROFILE
Got hornet saliva to go with that milk? Japan's largest dairy products manufacturer, Meiji Milk Products Co. sells both. It makes fluid milk, infant formulas, ice cream, and dairy-based drinks. More than 50% of sales are from milk. The company scored a hit with its Vaam health drink, which contains endurance-enhancing amino acids found in hornet saliva. Vaam had crowds abuzz at the 2000 Sydney Olympics after marathoner Naoko Takahashi drank it on her way to a gold-medal finish. Meiji Milk brought Bulgarian-style yogurt to Japan in the 1970s and leads the country in milk, yogurt, and premium ice cream sales. The company develops drugs and also sells The Coca-Cola Company's Minute Maid-brand juices in Japan.
