PROFILE |
 |
Lopez Foods could be the Hamburglar's Fort Knox. The company's main plant operates around the clock as it grinds, blends, molds, and quick-freezes millions of Big Mac and Quarter Pounder hamburger patties, pork sausage patties and Canadian-style bacon for McDonald's restaurants each week. The company also supplies Country Cousin sausage patties and Lopez-brand pork chorizo sausage to Wal-Mart Stores. Expanding its production facilities to meet increased demand, Lopez Foods is one of the US's largest Hispanic-owned manufacturers. CEO John Lopez, formerly a McDonald's restaurant operator in Los Angeles, took control of the company (then known as Normac Foods) in 1992.
