 PROFILE
Even the Statue of Liberty needs to wear sunscreen. Construction Specialties (aka the C/S Group) makes architectural products such as sunscreens (louvers and grilles) and protection products (rails and guards). Its products are found on famous structures from Miss Liberty to Britain's Houses of Parliament. Construction Specialties also offers specialty venting such as a "dropout" fire vent. Its Acrovyn Wall Protection products include accent rails, corner guards, door protection products, handrails, and wall panels. Construction Specialties was founded in 1948 and has subsidiaries in nearly a dozen countries. Principal owners Ellen Hakes (daughter of the founder) and husband Thomas cochair the company.
