PROFILE |
 |
Ormet's canny business skills have made it one of the US's leading producers of aluminum. Through its Ormet Primary Aluminum subsidiary, the company smelts aluminum ore (bauxite) and manufactures aluminum ingot, billet (pressed bars), sheet, foil, and other products for the fabrication, extrusion, and conversion markets. The company's Ormet Aluminum Mill Products subsidiary further processes the aluminum into auto trim, cans, gift wrap, packaging, and other products. Ormet operates in the US from nine plants (including alumina plants, rolling mills, recycling facilities, and marine terminals) located primarily in the Midwest. CEO Emmett Boyle owns the company, which was founded in Hannibal, Ohio, in 1954.
