PROFILE It's all in the family with retail clothing giant American Retail Group (ARG). ARG is the US piece of the Brenninkmeyer family's $7 billion global retail puzzle. The company sells mid-priced apparel and outdoor clothing through more than 900 stores in 47 states. Its chains include Miller's Outpost, Eastern Mountain Sports, Maurice's, Anchor Blue Clothing, Levi's Outlet by M.O.S.T., Dockers Outlet by M.O.S.T., and Juxtapose; it shuttered its Uptons chain in 1999. The Brenninkmeyers, who entered US retailing in 1948, are a secretive bunch, sometimes sending their children to college under assumed names.
