PROFILE |
 |
Driven by construction giant Dragados, Aurea Concesiones de Infraestructuras was created in 2000 when Spanish tollway operator Aumar merged with Dragados unit Valora 2000. Aumar (Autopistas del Mare Nostrum) operated three of Spain's motorways: Tarragona-Valencia, Valencia-Alicante, and Seville-Cadiz. The new company has interests in transport infrastructure concessions (for motorways, roads, and an airport) in Europe and Latin America. In addition to managing Aumar's three concessions, Aurea holds interests in Spain's León-Astorga and Madrid-Guadalajara concessions. Dragados, which owns 34% of Aurea and holds 14 concession contracts, plans to transfer about three concessions a year to Aurea to operate.
