Business Summary
Millennium Chemicals Inc. is an international chemical company, with market positions in a broad range of commodity, industrial, performance and specialty chemicals. The Company has three principal wholly owned operating subsidiaries, Millennium Inorganic Chemicals Inc., Millennium Petrochemicals Inc. and Millennium Specialty Chemicals Inc. Millennium also owns a 29.5% interest in Equistar. On March 23, 2001, the Company announced that it would restructure its operating businesses into two business units, the Growth and Development unit and the Operational Excellence unit. On February 1, 2000, Millennium Inorganic Chemicals, a subsidiary of the Company, completed the acquisition of Hanwha Advanced Ceramics of South Korea, a company located near Perth, Western Australia that produces a broad range of zirconia products that complement Millennium Inorganic Chemicals' manufacturing operations in Thann, Alsace and France.

Financial Summary
Millenium Chemicals is an international chemicals company, with leading market positions in a range of commodity, industrial, performance and specialty chemicals. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues fell 3% to $863 million. Net loss totaled $39 million vs. an income of $73 million. Revenues reflect lower prices and lower volumes in the Titanium Dioxide and Related Products segment. Net loss reflects the equity losses, reorganization and plant closure charges.
