NOVA Chemicals Corporation is a petrochemicals company in Canada that is primarily engaged in the production and marketing of petrochemicals. NOVA Chemicals operates in two commodity chemical businesses, olefins/polyolefins and styrenics. The olefins/polyolefins business produces ethylene, polyethylene and a variety of chemical and energy products (commonly known as co-products). The styrenics business produces styrene and styrenic polymers. NOVA Chemicals operates major olefins/polyolefins production facilities near Joffre, Alberta, and Sarnia, Ontario. It has major styrene plants located near Bayport, Texas and Sarnia, Ontario and polystyrene manufacturing facilities at various sites in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and France. NOVA Chemicals also owns approximately 27% of Methanex Corporation, a producer and marketer of methanol.

Financial Summary
NOVA Chemicals Corp. is a Canadian chemicals company engaged in two commodity chemical businesses: the olefins/polyolefins business and the styrenics business. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues fell 6% to $1.8 billion. Net income according to U.S. GAAP appl. to Comm. decreased 71% to $47 million. Revenues reflect a decrease in demand for styrene and ploystyrene. Earnings also reflect increased natural gas liquid feedstock costs.
