Business Summary
Georgia-Pacific (Timber) consists of the timber and timberlands businesses of Georgia-Pacific Corporation. The Company is comprised of approximately 4.7 million acres of timberlands, owned or leased by the Georgia-Pacific Corporation, together with related facilities and equipment. The Company is engaged in the business of growing and marketing timber. Its timberlands are located in three regions: 3.9 million acres of primarily pine forests in the south; 287,000 acres of primarily Douglas fir forests in Oregon; and 484, 000 acres of mixed hardwood forests in the Appalachian and north central regions of the United States. These timberlands are within economic reach of over 1,000 customers and grow various commercial species of trees for industrial wood users. Principal products include softwood saw timber, softwood pulpwood, hardwood saw timber and hardwood pulpwood.

Financial Summary
Georgia-Pacific (Timber) is engaged in the business of growing and selling timber and wood fiber on approximately 4.7 million acres of timberlands that the Corporation owns or leases. For the six months ended 6/30/01, total net sales fell 12% to $180 million. Net income fell 22% to $58 million. Revenues reflect a decline in both sales volume and selling prices. Earnings also reflect lower margins due to increases in the cost of timber sold.
