The Company has three reportable industry segments, Branch-based Distribution, Digital and Lab Safety Supply.

Financial Summary
GWW is a distributor of maintenance, repair, and operating supplies, services and related information to the commercial, industrial, contractor and institutional markets in North America. For the six months ended 6/30/01, sales fell 2% to $2.44 billion. Net income fell 41% to $57 million. Results reflect lower sales in the Branch-based Distribution Business, $40 million in restructuring charges and $21.5 million in costs related to the liquidation of an unconsolidated entity.
