Business Summary York International Corporation is a full-line, global designer and manufacturer of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC&R) products. The Company's products fall under four categories. Engineered Systems produces heating, air conditioning and thermal storage equipment designed for commercial applications in retail stores, office buildings, shopping malls, manufacturing facilities, hospitals, universities, airports and marine vessels. York Refrigeration produces commercial and industrial refrigeration applications and gas compression equipment designed for the food, beverage, chemical and petrochemical processing industries, as well as marine applications. Unitary Products produces heating and air conditioning solutions designed for use in residential and light commercial applications. Bristol Compressors manufactures reciprocating and scroll compressors for original equipment manufacturers and for sale by wholesale distributors. For the six months ended 6/30/01, net sales rose 3% to $2.02 billion. Net income fell 65% to $23.8 million. Results reflect strength in the North American equipment and service business, offset by increased special charges and the absence of sale gains.
