Collins & Aikman Corporation is engaged in automotive floor and acoustic systems, and is a supplier of automotive fabric, interior trim and convertible top systems. The Company conducts all of its operating activities through its wholly owned subsidiary, Collins & Aikman Products Co. The Company operates through three divisions: North American Automotive Interior Systems, European Automotive Interior Systems and Specialty Automotive Products. Collins & Aikman's North American Automotive Interior Systems and European Automotive Interior Systems divisions have five principal product lines: molded floor carpet, acoustical products, luggage compartment trim, accessory floormats and plastic-based interior trim systems and components. The Company's Specialty Automotive Products division supplies automotive fabrics and convertible top systems.

Financial Summary
Collins and Aikman Corp. is a global supplier of automotive interior systems, including textile and plastic trim, acoustics and convertible top systems. For the 26 weeks ended 6/30/01 (vs. 27 weeks), revenues decreased 13% to $910.7 million. Net loss from continuing operations and before extraordinary items totalled $5.3 million vs. an income of $18.1 million. Results reflect customer price reductions, weaker Canadian and European currencies, and a $9.2 million restructuring charge.
