Business Summary
Tootsie Roll Industries, Inc. and its consolidated subsidiaries are engaged in the manufacture and sale of candy. This is the only industry segment in which the Company operates and is its only line of business. The majority of the Company's products are sold under the registered trademarks Tootsie Roll, Tootsie Roll Pops, Child's Play, Caramel Apple Pops, Charms, Blow-Pop, Blue Razz, Zip-a-dee-doo-da Pops, Cella's, Mason Dots, Mason Crows, Junior Mint, Charleston Chew, Sugar Daddy, Sugar Babies, Andes and Fluffy Stuff. In 2000, the Company acquired the trademarks for Andes and Fluffy Stuff, along with their corresponding manufacturing assets. The Company's products are marketed in a variety of packages designed to be suitable for display and sale in different types of retail outlets. The Company's principal markets are in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Financial Summary
Tootsie Roll Indust. is engaged in the manufacture and sale of candy. Products include Tootsie Rolls, Charms, Blow Pops, Junior Mints, Sugar Babies, Charleston Chews, Sugar Daddys and others. For the 26 weeks ended 6/30/01, net sales rose 1% to $169.5 million. Earnings fell 8% to $26.3 million. Revenues reflect sales volume growth from brands acquired in 2000. Earnings were offset due to lower profit margins coupled with higher distribution and delivery expenses.
