The Company's activities, through its wholly owned subsidiaries, have expanded to include oil and gas property operations, oilfield services and natural gas gathering, marketing and trading. The Company organizes its activities in operating segments that consist of the acquisition, exploration, development and operation of oil and gas properties, and the development, production and sale of oil and natural gas, providing oil field services for wells that it operates and for third parties and the marketing and trading of third-party natural gas. The Company's activities are located primarily in the Rocky Mountain region of the United States, which is considered one geographic area.

Financial Summary
PENG engages in the exploration, acquisition, development and production of crude oil and natural gas. PENG also engages in oil and gas property operations, oilfield services and natural gas marketing and trading. For the six months ended 6/01, revenues rose 44% to $32.7 million. Net income before acctg. change rose 53% to $13.7 million. Revenues benefited from significantly higher natural gas prices. Net income also reflects a reduction in the cost of oilfield services.
