SCPIE Holdings Inc. is a holding company owning subsidiaries engaged in providing insurance and reinsurance products. The Company is a nationwide provider of medical malpractice insurance and related liability insurance products to physicians, healthcare facilities and others engaged in the healthcare industry. The Company is actively engaged in developing a diverse portfolio of assumed reinsurance treaties to complement its direct insurance business. SCPIE conducts its insurance business through three insurance company subsidiaries, SCPIE Indemnity Company, American Healthcare Indemnity Company and American Healthcare Specialty Insurance Company. All three companies generally have the right to participate in domestic and international reinsurance treaties.

Financial Summary
SCPIE Holdings, Inc. is the parent company of a group of insurance and insurance-related companies providing medical malpractice insurance primarily in CA. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues increased 25% to $124.9 million. Net loss totalled $26.8 million vs. an income of $8.2 million. Revenues benefitted from increased assumed reinsurance premiums earned. Net income was offset by increased losses and loss adjustment expenses and higher operating costs.
