Business Summary
WellPoint Health Networks, Inc. is a United States managed healthcare company. The Company offers a broad spectrum of network-based managed care plans. WellPoint provides these plans to the large and small employer, individual, Medicaid and senior markets. The Company's managed care plans include preferred provider organizations, health maintenance organizations and point-of-service and other hybrid plans and traditional indemnity plans. In addition, the Company offers managed care services, including underwriting, actuarial services, network access, medical cost management and claims processing. The Company also provides a broad array of specialty and other products, including pharmacy, dental, utilization management, life insurance, preventive care, disability insurance, behavioral health, COBRA and flexible benefits account administration.

Financial Summary
WLP offers network-based health products including open access PPO, POS and hybrid products, HMO and specialty products through Blue Cross of CA, Blue Cross Blue Shield of GA and UNICARE. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 30% to $5.76 billion. Net income rose 20% to $196.4 million. Results reflect large group segment membership growth and the acquisitions of Cerulean and Rush Prudential, partially offset by higher costs for health care services provided.
