Annuity and Life RE Holdings, Ltd. provides annuity and life reinsurance to insurers and reinsurers through its wholly owned subsidiaries: Annuity and Life Reassurance, Ltd., licensed as a long-term insurer; Annuity and Life RE America, Inc., an insurance holding company; and Annuity and Life Reassurance America, Inc., formerly Capitol Bankers Life Insurance Company, a life insurance company authorized to conduct business in 43 states. The Company's life reinsurance business is the reinsurance of ordinary life insurance, primarily for mortality risks; its annuity reinsurance business is the reinsurance of general account, fixed, deferred annuities and general account payout annuity structures.

Financial Summary
ANR provides annuity and life reinsurance to insurers and reinsurers through Annuity and Life Reassurance, Ltd., Annuity and Life RE America, Inc. and Annuity and Life Reassurance America, Inc. For the six months ended 6/01, revenues rose 31% to $166 million. Net income rose 59% to $24.9 million. Revenues reflect increased net premiums and realized investment gains. Net income benefitted from decreased costs associated with interest sensitive contract liabilities.
