Staten Island Bancorp Inc. serves as the holding company for SI Bank & Trust (the Bank). The Bank maintains a network of 17 full-service branch offices located in Staten Island, New York, two branch offices located in Brooklyn, New York, three limited-service branch offices in Staten Island, and 11 full-service branch offices in the New Jersey counties of Ocean, Monmouth, Union and Middlesex. The Bank also maintains a lending center and Trust Department on Staten Island, along with a commercial lending office in Brooklyn. The Bank is primarily engaged in attracting deposits from the general public and businesses, and using those and other available sources of funds to originate loans secured primarily by single-family (one- to four-unit) residences and, to a lesser extent, commercial loans, both secured and unsecured.

Financial Summary
Staten Island Bancorp is the holding company for SI Bank and Trust, which operates 30 full service branches in NY and NJ, and SIB Mortgage Corp. For the six months ended 6/30/01, total interest income rose 11% to $183.4 million. Net interest income after LLP rose 3% to $73.2 million. Net income rose 14% to $29.2 million. Net interest income reflects higher real estate loan balances, partially offset by a higher borrowing costs. Earnings reflect increased mortgage loan fees and gains.
