Business Summary
Triad Hospitals, Inc. provides healthcare services through hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers, located in small cities and selected urban markets, primarily in the Southwestern, Western and South-central United States. In addition to providing capital resources, Triad makes available a variety of management services to its healthcare facilities. These services include ethics and compliance programs, national supply and equipment purchasing and leasing contracts, accounting, financial and clinical systems, governmental reimbursement assistance, information systems, legal support, personnel management and internal audit, access to regional managed care networks and resource management.

Financial Summary
TRI operates 29 general, acute care hospitals and 13 ambulatory surgery centers in AL, AZ, AR, CA, KS, LA, MO, NM, OK, OR, TX and WV. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 64% to $1.01 billion. Net loss before extraordinary item totaled $11.1 million vs. an income of $9.1 million. Revenues reflect an increase in same facilities admissions and in net inpatient revenue per admission. Net loss reflects increased operating expenses due to the additional facilities.
