Business Summary
Broadwing Inc. is a full-service, local and national provider of data and voice communications services, and a regional provider of wireless communications services. The Company seeks to provide service on a national level by combining its nationwide optical network and Internet backbone, and its brand name and service in its local and regional franchise area. The Company has principal businesses in four industry segments, Broadband, Local Communications, Wireless and Other Communications. Broadwing Communications, a subsidiary of the Company, is a nationwide provider of data and voice communications services. These services are provided over more than 18,000 route miles of fiber-optic transmission facilities.

Financial Summary
BRW operates in four industry segments: Broadband Services, Local Communications Services, Wireless Services, and Other Communications Services. For the six months ended 6/30/01, revenues rose 24% to $1.19 billion. Net loss applicable to Common from continuing operations before accounting change fell 23% to $67.9 million. Revenues reflect growth in broadband transport, data and Internet revenues. Net loss reflects decreased S/G/A expenses as a percentage of revenues.
