Business Summary
Albertson's, Inc. is a retail food and drug chains in the United States. As of February 1, 2001, the Company operated 2,512 stores in 36 Northeastern, Western, Midwestern and Southern states. These stores consist of 1,362 combination food-drug stores, 807 stand-alone drugstores, 315 conventional supermarkets and 28 warehouse stores. The Company's distribution centers provide product exclusively to the Company's retail stores. The Company's stores operate under the names of Albertson's, Acme Markets, Jewel Food Stores, Seessel's, Super Saver, Max Foods, Osco Drug and Sav-On Drugs.

Financial Summary
Albertson's Inc. operates combination food-drug stores, conventional supermarkets and warehouse stores. For the 13 weeks ended 5/3/01, sales rose 4% to $9.33 billion. Net income rose 4% to $186 million. Revenues reflect comparable store sales increases and the opening of new stores. Net income also reflects improved gross margins and $14.2 million of merger related credits associated with the reversal of previously expensed impairment charges.
