Business Summary
PixTech, Inc. is dedicated to commercializing its field emission displays (FEDs), a type of flat panel display. In 1992, the Company exclusively licensed patents from the electronics research institute, Laboratoire d'Electronique, de Technologie et d'Instrumentation, and, since then, has focused on advancing FED technology towards high-volume manufacturing and wide market acceptance. After completing the development and initial commercialization of its first product, the Company applied its collaboration strategy to manufacturing efforts. The Company has established a manufacturing relationship with Unipac, a Taiwanese liquid crystal display manufacturer. This relationship has reduced investment costs for volume manufacturing of FEDs. During 2000, the Company concentrated its efforts on establishing a volume manufacturing process at Unipac's Taiwanese facility.
